With apologies to the squeamish

So, I'm getting a long past due physical this Thursday (well, not horrid. It's been two years. I've missed a year. I'm not *that* bad, damn it) with all the blood work involved. And I was curious.

So a poll:

[Poll #1083594]

~

And also:

Everyone should go read [livejournal.com profile] leaping_lemurs, [livejournal.com profile] nutmeg3's journal of her trip to Madagascar last month. It is *awesome*. Not only is Nutmeg a wonderful wordsmith and detailed without being overbearing, but she has PICTURES! Of LEMURS!

PEOPLE! WE ARE TALKING MOUSE LEMUR FEET! The level of cuteness is unparalleled!

So go and read. So very worth it. And it's not all Lemur pictures (though I did mention the feet, right?). there are fish! And bugs! And toads and crabs and bungalows and rain and so much more!

So go and read. I command you.

Also, play the [livejournal.com profile] ljdq (since I'm pimping). It is tons of fun and totally absurd and something to look forward to on Mondays.

Awwww, thank you for the plug. I'm so happy you're enjoying my ramblings (and the lemur feeties *g*).

Heh, I just had this conversation this weekend. Me, I can handle needles just fine, but I NEVER watch. Whereas a friend of mine just had a freaking AMNIO, and said it was harder than her first one because she couldn't see the giant needle!

Anyway, I hope the physical goes well, Darling. Good for you for taking care of yourself :)

Thank you! I love to watch. It's so pretty! And red! It's like nail polish, really. DNA filled nail polish.

PRETTY!

Sometimes I can watch the needle going in and sometimes I can't. But I do watch the blood filling up in the collection tubes.

The blood filling the collection tubes is the best part! Pretty and so cool!
I also like watching when I give blood, but I don't do that any more (three times with collapsing veins learned me but good).

I had bloodwork done a few months ago for the first time in . . . um, let's say a very, very long time, and I had to lie down for it, not watch, and then I shook for twenty minutes afterwards. I do not deal well with blood or with blood-extracting devices, and certainly not any combination of the two. Luckily the technician was very kind.

Oh, I do know people who react like you. One of them was a very large woman who was also very strong and very flaily. She said that bloodwork was an interactive sport with her. Heh.

Poor Abby. *calms you*

Would you believe that I've had blood drawn many times in my life, have known what tourniquets were since I read about them in a Trixie Belden in fifth grade or so, but I have never realized that the elastic thing around the arm WAS a tourniquet until I read the poll question? *snorts at self*

HEE! I feel my work here is done. =D
