I thought it was today, and was all pleased with myself for remembering an anniversary for the first time in ten years. But I didn't quite. Alas.

Anyway, yesterday was my ten-year anniversary at lj, which is INSANE, but AWESOME. I know I have become one of those non-posters, but please know that I still read, and think of you, and I am so happy to have this journal, not only because I can spout off strange things or vent or be ridiculous if the need arises, but also because I made a lot of friends through lj, either by meeting people or getting to know people I already knew even better.

I love this site and journal, and I am grateful for it and you.

Since I'm here, what's new?

Uhhhhh, not much. Well, okay. Hmmmmm. Graduated (which I may have already said?), thought I had a job, so I didn't look for other jobs. Realized too late I didn't have a job, scrambled to find a job, and found a part-time job at an amazing school. Alas, the pay is crap and there are no benefits. But at least I'm in a classroom every day and learning like mad.

So there's that.

Uhhhhh, I joined weight watchers this year and have lost almost 40 pounds, which doesn't suck. They also just opened a Flirty Girl Fitness around the corner from me, and I am going to three or four classes a week, which is fun. Not only do they have standards, like circuit training, Zumba, dance and aerobics, but they also have classes like pole dancing and burlesque. I have taken the burlesque class (seriously, unexpectedly, awesome workout, especially on the thighs), and it rocked. I haven't taken a pole dancing class, but I have taken a pole fit class (using the pole as a stabilizer for strength training), and it kicked my ass quite spectacularly. Alas, it only offered on days I can't be there (I made the one class because of the teachers strike, rah).

Pierce is amazing and practically an adult. I still spend a ton of time with him, and he is my best guy.

Have a picture:
Peek-a-boo!
Standing on an excavator, of course.
Fun fact #1: My sister also wore that jacket when she was two-and-a-half (possibly I did, as well).
Fun fact #2: I know he is on an excavator, not a backhoe loader, because an excavator is on caterpillar treads and a backhoe loader is on wheels. Also, the excavator's cab spins 360 degrees. This is one of the many, MANY things I have learned about construction vehicles, thanks to my nephew's obsessive love of construction. I can take him to the nature museum and the children's museum, and out to lunch and to the playground and a dozen other places, and pass a jackhammer on the street, and when asked about his day, the first thing he'll say is, "I saw jackhammer".

Well, that or "I fall", if he happened to trip.

Kids.

Here, have another picture:

Peek-a-boo!

Okay, I must away, as I have Club Cardio in a half hour (first time at the class. Should be fun. Or painful).

Er, hello

So, it's been a while, and I keep, keep, keep meaning to get back into updating and haven't because of the lazy and the tired and the life-things that keep happening, and it is SO TRUE that the longer you go without updating the harder it is to get back into it.

In short: je'suck.

BUT!

How could I not pop in and wish a wonderful and happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] eee1313?!?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARLING!!!

I don't think it's possible to top the big event of your past year, but I hope that this next year continues to bring you joy, happiness, love and so much fun. xoxoxo and tons of hugs.

~

Since I'm here, a super-fast recap.

1. Graduated with an M.A.T. in Elementary Education. Also, with a 4.0 (holy shit). I am the bomb diggity.

2. Trying to find a job. Went on an interview this past Wednesday, which I think went well. I would love to teach at the school (also where I did my student teaching, so I know them), so any good vibes would be faboo.

3. Last month I took my dream vacation to London, the city I've wanted to see more than any other. I kind of want to live there. To say it lived up to my expectations would be a gross understatement. It was so much more. I'm already trying to figure out when I can go back.

4. I've joined Weight Watchers and lost 25 pounds. This . . . feels good. Clothes I couldn't fit into in February are now falling off me. Another reason I need a job: money for clothes.

5. I am trying to get in a lot of Pierce time, because of the part where he is amazing and I adore him. He just keeps getting cuter (and sweeter), see:
IMG_3946 (I don't know why the picture is so out of focus. He's really cute, though, blurry or not).

He is very happy and loves (LOVES) trucks, and the other day said "back hoe loader", and can identify a picture of a monster truck.

Also, when I ask him to say "pretty" he says, "pretty Annie". I've trained him well.

Okay, this is a brief update fromt he life of me. I must away, for I am meeting people in 45 minutes, and society tends to frown on people wandering about without pants (which is to say, I should look presentable for the outside world).
angelchicken: (Default)
Merry, merry Christmas, my wonderful friends. I know I haven't been around much, but I am definitely reading and keeping up with everyone.
So much love and happiness to you all!

xoxoxo
angelchicken: (Ron/Hermione)
I loved it. I adored it. I thought it was so wonderfully done.

Some small spoilers, some big spoilers )

I just remembered that last night I dreamed that I was the Nanny for Neil Partick Harris's kids. Random.
angelchicken: (Three Excellent Questions)
Okay, so I am suddenly back in a Buffy mode, and was wondering if anyone had any idea if it was still possible to find Season Noir, by Anna S, or any of the MarySueVerse by Witling?

Again, so random, but I would love to read them both again.

Kisses!

Today is a wonderful, exciting, amazing and fantastic day!

Today is [livejournal.com profile] eee1313's birthday!!!

Eee, I can't wait to hear about your adventures this year, and all of the fabulous things that are headed your way.

Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of love!

Skillz a video by phantom_xtl on Flickr.

He might not be walking. He might not be talking. He might not be able to find his nose without help.

But he knows the important things.

I am weary

Weary, I say!
I am so sick of school, and want it to be over! OVER! Not in three weeks! Now!

Nah, I mean yeah, I am weary, but I am surprised at how much I am enjoying school.
Crazy!

But right now, when I am editing one nine page paper, before I edit another five page paper, before I finish writing a quiz on the Potawatomi so I can finish my lesson plan (so I can write four more next week) and write a unit plan, all of which are due tomorrow, I kind of wish I had run off to join the circus.

Wait, no, that would never work. I hate clowns.

And what is especially frustrating is that I'm not even procrastinating (much). It just so happens that three HUGE assignments are due on one day, (to say nothing of the things due tomorrow that I have already finished), and while I tried to get an early start on them, I still had to keep up with my more current assignments.

I'm exhausted and bitchy, and just need to vent.

In other news, does anyone know about Star Trek fic based on the most recent movie? I watched it again last night (awesome), and feel that my life would only get better if I could read some Kirk/Bones, Spock/Uhura stories (preferably in the same story).

I would search myself, but I am seriously terrified of that fandom. And seeing as how I am a lover of both Harry Potter and Twilight (who have their own largess and personal brand of crazy), that is saying something.

Here. Have a funny face:

Best Guy!

Hi there.
'Sup?
How are things?
I'm okay. Been a bit quiet, I know. School. Four classes. Big mistake.

Alas.

Much to do, no time to do it.

Also, Pierce time.

The BEST!

It's been a while since I have spammed, and he is almost 15 months (Yowza!)

Yesterday he took a step, his first, and it's fantastic and frightening, as walking means running, and he's already hard to keep up with when he crawls everywhere.

Needless to say, I'm excited.

He's amazing.

Let me show you in pictures! )

Hey! Here's a question: does anyone know why LJ has been so freaking slow lately? I feel like it loaded faster when I was on dial-up eight years ago . . .
angelchicken: (Calvin-Hobbes)
Happy Mother's Day to some of the strongest, bravest and most loving people I know! My friends, you are amazing, and I am so lucky to know you!
xoxo
angelchicken: (Default)
Hiya! Disbelief tagged me in a meme, and I am just procrastinatey enough to get RIGHT ON THAT (then I'll do dishes! Whee! And my semester hasn't even started yet! Exclamation point!)

So here we go!

I also think I already did this. So consider this AngelChicken: The Sequel

The Rules:
1. People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any question they dislike with a new, original question.

2. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
I tag no people. If you read this, consider yourself tagged. BOO YAH!

1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up.
An application to student teach overseas, Peekie, an empty cereal bowl, pants to be dry cleaned, Harry Potter DVDs Prisoner of Azkaban through Half-Blood Prince.

2. How do you style your hair?
I wash it. Sometimes I spritz it. Also, I just learned that because my hair is fine, I can condition it, THEN wash is and it will still be effective, without weighing it down. Whee!

3. What are you wearing now?
Jeans, black shirt, socks and slippers, specs,

4. What's your occupation?
Student. Occasional watcher of Best Guy.

5. What do you hear right now?
The L. Light traffic.

6. Who was the last person you hugged?
My Mombo.

7. What are you thinking about right now?
How I am already overwhelmed by my semester, and it doesn't start until tomorrow.

8. What did you do today?
Very little. Watched an orientation for my online class, made some eggs and sausage (yum!), talked to my sister, thought about doing dishes.

9. What song is stuck in your head?
Nothing at the moment. Weird. Maybe "500 Miles" by the Proclaimers?

10. If you came across $2,000 (or other currency) would you keep it or turn it in?
Probably turn it in, though I would certainly think about how $2000 would make a dent in my debt.

11. What was the last thing that you bought?
A frozen yogurt swirl cone from Annette's

12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Where wouldn't I go? Europe! Australia! California! Washington! New York! Too many places to list!

13. Where do you see yourself in five minutes?
Either still doing this, or doing dishes.

14. Last book you've read?
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Titan's Curse

15. What was the last movie you saw?
Really? Your going to make me tell you? It's shameful. RedRidingHood

16. If you could have any profession, what would it be?
I'm pretty excited about being a teacher, though if given the resources, I think I would make a smashing socialite.

17. Favourite word?
I don't even know. I like to say anemone, because it makes me laugh to get caught up in saying it: anemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemonemone

18. What is one thing about you most people don't know?
Please. I'm an open book. Everyone knows everything.

19. What are you looking forward to the most?
Paying off my debt. *sigh* Someday.

20. Did you replace many questions?
Not a one. I don't have it in me.

Finally:

Someone was in Florida this week:

I'm not jealous. No, no. Not at all. Okay, maybe a little.
Lil' Beach Bum!
angelchicken: (Calvin-Hobbes)
Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] nutmeg3!!!

(Well, happy day after your birthday, but still). I am sorry I missed the actual day, because you are so important and such a wonderful friend and I hope that your birthday and birthweekend and birthmonth are interesting and fun and that this year is the best year yet! I am so happy to know you and wish you the best, always.

xoxoxoxo
angelchicken: (Default)
I stole this from Smidgy MicMezle as it seemed like an excellent way to not do homework for a few minutes. Woo Hoo!

1. Make a list of 5 things you can see without getting up.
* Elementary and Middle School Mathematics by van de Walle, Karp and Bay-Williams
* New York City Center 25th Anniversary poster
* An article entitled, "How Does Mechanical Weathering Change Rocks" that is not, in fact, about how mechanical weathering changes rocks. (lies!)
* A clay figurine of a polar bear playing a mandolin.
* Two globes made of minerals and semi-precious gems (sparkly!)

2. How do you style your hair?
I wash it. I wide-tooth comb it. It dries. Sometimes I remember to put taming spray in it. Usually I brush it after it's dry.

3. What are you wearing now?
Clothes to promote knowledge: jeans, tee, hoodie, fuzzy slippers, specs

4. What's your occupation?
Non-practicing Gemological Goddess, full-time student, Amazing Aunt of Best Guy

5. What do you hear right now?
Breathing of cat, some sort of tap-heavy music from upstairs, cars, the L

6. Who was the last person you hugged?
My mother, sister, or nephew.

7. What is/was for dinner?
A salad and burrito from Whole Foods.

8. What did you do today?
Sleep, with weirdly linear though nonsensical dreams (and I do dream in color. I remember a few shades of blue and some burn orange). Homework (so. much. homework). Procrastinate.

9. Dog person or cat person?
I am a Peekie person.

10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Aunt Amazing

11. What was the last thing you bought?
Food. Also books. And this-n-thats

12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Everywhere, starting with England and Australia

13. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I don't know. Where do you see me, intrusive question?

14. Favourite book?
Always the same: A Trip to the Stars by Nicholas Christopher, the entire Harry Potter series, Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer.
Randomly, I picked up the first Percy Jackson book during my observation on Tuesday and then bought it because I really enjoyed the first few chapters.

15: What are you doing this weekend?
Homework. Then babysitting. Then more homework. Did I mention that I have had nothing due in Science Methods for weeks and suddenly I have THREE HUGE PROJECTS due within days of each other? And I probably would have picked up on it sooner, but my syllabus is completely non-linear and really confusing. So, yeah. Lots of science. And some math.

16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
I can play the guitar, though I want to play it better.

17. How are you?
Fine, in an overwhelmed kind of way

18. What are you doing tomorrow?
Starts with a 'home' and ends with a 'work'.

19. What are you looking forward to the most?
Seeing my Best Guy tonight. Finishing the semester (and hopefully maintaining my straight A's), meeting someone and falling in love, having my own classroom
angelchicken: (Default)
Happy, Happy birthday, wonderful [livejournal.com profile] juliedarling!!!!

I am so, so happy that in the past year+ I have gotten to know you, and actually meet you! And I hope that in the new year I get more opportunities to come to Indy! Also, not gonna lie, I'm already on watch for a cheep Megabus fare for April 22nd. Trust.

I ♥ you, darling Julie, and I hope this year is fantastic!

xoxoxo
angelchicken: (Default)
Okay, I'm actually going to eat pasta and watch movies with friends, but same difference.

SO MUCH LOVE, my friends, and wishes for a happy and healthy New Year! Stay safe tonight, and party like a rock star, whether you're out on the town, chillin' with friends or family, or cozy in your home, snuggled up with a movie/computer/book.

I am quite pleased with 2010, and everything that happened.

And I am very much looking forward to 2011.

*MWAH!*
angelchicken: (O Night Divine)
I wish you a merry Christmas!
I wish you a merry Christmas!
I WISH you a merry Christmas!
And a haaaaaaaaaaaaaapy New Year!

Lots of love, my wonderful friends, and a happy and healthy holiday! Or, should you not be the Christmas celebrating type, a happy an healthy December 25th!

XOXOXOXOXOXO

Eclipse

angelchicken: (O Night Divine)
I really wanted to watch the lunar eclipse tonight, but was annoyed that it was so late, because I don't really stay up that late, anymore. But it would be really cool to see, that the fact that it coincides with the Solstice makes it doubly cool.

But then Mother Nature took it out of my hands, by making it snow.

Thank you, Mother Nature, for taking the decision out of my hands.

=D

Leslie Neilsen died and he's one of those actors that I never really thought about but always always enjoyed.
I'm sorry to hear it. He was a tremendous actor.

~

Uhhhhhh, today was boring. Booooooooring.

I need to find a job. Hopefully tutoring. I'm sending my resume to a few places in the morning. We'll see how that goes . . .

~

In the mean time, I am hanging out with Best Guy most of the week. I'm all over that, as I'm sure you know. Especially as he just got back from a WEEK in Florida, where he WASN'T WITH ME! What kind of sister goes on vacation and takes her husband and child? I tell you!
(He is the cutest lil' thing and was happy to see me yesterday, as only a cranky, jet-lagged and starving baby can be).

~

For the first time in my life I am a straight-A student. \o/

Let us see if this trend can hold . . .

~

I'm selling a few things on eBay, and I'm pretty sure I seriously overpriced on one thing. If it doesn't sell, does eBay etiquette allow me to re-auction it at a lower price? Or should I wait?
I just don't know this newfangled internet auction system!

~
It's the holiday season! Time to break out the holiday icons! Except I really like Rob and Kristen smiling.

So pretty!

And it brings me cheer! Which is what the holidays are all about!
angelchicken: (Default)
I am writing a paper. It is due on Thursday. This is all well and good. I know I will have no problems getting to seven pages because I am already at three pages and haven't even gotten to the bulk of the information. Which is where the problem lies. I'm not doing a good job of self-editing. I mean, if I can write out the paper today I can edit 'til the cows come home tomorrow and all will be well. But it is driving me nuts that I am so checked out of this education thing that I can't focus my thoughts.
I'll get there, I know I will, but it is like pulling teeth, only not because it isn't difficult to get the ideas on paper, it's difficult making them sensicle.
Maybe I'll just write and write and write and then I will make it normal tomorrow.

Maybe.

In other news, I have gotten my grades in my first two classes and they are both 'A's. Because I kick ass.

I think I'm going to do well in this final class, too, but if I can't focus this paper it's not gonna happen, as it is 50% of my grade.

I need more coffee.
angelchicken: (Default)
While at Baby Gap the other day, Pierce found a hat he quite liked:

~

Two out of three projects are done! Woo! I have to finish my field-based research project (I'm getting there, slowly but surely) and then I will have completed my first semester of grad school! Holy crap! Hooray!
I will celebrate by sleeping and then also finding a job. And learning about available scholarships.

And seeing Harry Potter OME ONE WEEK HOW DID IT GET HERE SO FAST?!?!?!?!

Okay, I'm sleepy. I'm going to sleep. As one does.
