Well, of course! Freezing, crushing, making everything into uniform little cubes.

It's a kitchen appliance of Satan.

My dear, I think you need to explain. Because ice makers do not seem like the stuff nightmares are made of. ;)

Hee. In my summer writing class, a woman wrote about her fear of garbage disposals. She had bad dreams about them and everything.

Dude, garbage disposals ARE really scary! I always freak out in movies whenever someone drops something down one and reaches in to get it out. "Arrrrgh! Forget about your wedding ring, you can buy another one, don't put your hand in that DEATH TRAP, MORON!"

The lady from class said that her fear started when her brother dressed as a pirate for Halloween. The hook on his hand scared her and she associated it with the garbage disposal's ripping it off. Even now, as an adult, she freaks out. Before she moved into her new place, she had the disposal removed.

Hee. Death Trap.

I had nightmares about being the mean guilty one who shut herself in the nuclear fallout shelter, alone, and leaned on the door to keep all the other humans out.

Then I would leave the shelter later and walk around crying and looking at all the dead people.

Mind you, at the time I was twelve years old and Ronald Reagan was president. Ick.

Around the same age, In used to have a nightmare about driving in a car with no driver, or me the driver, or sometimes one of my parents, and we would drive off a cliff and down into an enormous fried egg the size of a football field. We had to try to fall into the white part, because if we fell into the yolk part we would be paralyzed.

Ice makers are indeed scary, although garbage disposals are scarier.
