I love my mom. I really do. But she talks about diet and weight and stuff almost every time we talk. Which is often. And so it makes sense that it would be on my mind. Not always, but enough.
And you know what? I like being a size 12. I liked when that fit me comfortably, and I would like to have 12's fit me comfortably again (the're snug right now). So. I ask your advice. And if you have any other advice, that would be swell if you could post it in the comments.
Also- Where in the city of Manhattan might I find rollerblades? Yes, I am looking at you,
sodanyc.

Date: 2003-08-19 02:45 pm (UTC)I read the Atkins diet stuff, and a lot of that really made sense. I was eating way too many carbs (probably 50% of what I ate a day.) So reading that really has helped me cut down on carbs and eat better and I can feel a difference. But some things in that diet are just crazy ass. Not eating fruit? Fuck that. And no one can eat as much meat as Atkins wants you too. But it was interesting.
Right now, I'm in love with Jorge Cruise. I have his book, 8 Minutes in the Morning for Real Shapes, Real Sizes. It's a fabulous book, wherein he tries to help you get to the heart of your health issues. He keeps saying over and over again that it's not about being skinny, it's about being healthy. Good stuff. The book also includes an easy to follow 8 minute a day stretching/exercise regime. It's mostly yoga moves, and it's a great way to start your morning (and from what I've read, excercise in the morning is always the best way to go.) It also has an eating plan if you want to use it. But the thing I like most about this is the attitude. Be healthy, but don't deprive yourself. Using the "Cruise Plate", you're supposed to eat two snacks and a treat a day. And he doesn't mean rice cakes. Reese's Peanutbutter Cups and M&M's are recommended in this book. Really, it's quite inspiring.
So, I'm trying to have a positive attitude, exercise in the morning, and eat fewer carbs. That's it. It's a blend of options, but I'm happy so far.
Okay, so, enough of my healthy reading ramblings.
