NG interviewed me!
Aug. 7th, 2003 10:06 am1. James Marsters vs. Colin Firth. Pit them in some competition. Who would win and why?
Well, you are just ebil, aren’t you? I have to pick? They are battling for my affection, yes? Then James would win. Don’t get me wrong, I am currently in a big Colin lust-bunny phase, but my Colin crush is like the tide, it ebbs and flows sometimes consuming my thoughts, sometimes on the fringe.
But James. James is always on my mind. I can honestly say that my James crush is my longest sustained crush, pretty much ever. I just love him. And I know a bit about him separate from his career. I know his politics and I know he’s a geek and not the best singer and kind of a dork on stage, but I still love him. I can’t say for sure that the Firth would be the same. If it was Spike vs. Darcy, though. . .
One thing in Firth’s favor? His accent is real. And fucking sexy. And he, like James, has a devastating, knee melting smirk. Guh.
2. You have minions! What do you make them call you? What do you make them do for you? How do you treat them?
Yay! I have always wanted minions! In fact, there is an intern here this summer and I privately think of her as the minion, because she is always doing the grunt work.
My minions could call me Anne. Or they could call me Mistress, but those would be my sex-slave minions who feed me grapes and fan me and give me massages. Mmmm, sexy minions.
Mostly, though, I would want minions to keep my life in order. Clean regularly, do dishes (v. v. important), clean bathroom and snake the drain. Repaint when needed. Remind me if there is a show I want to see, or an appointment I can’t miss. Basically be responsible for me. And, massages.
I would respect them (as keeping me organized is a big job) but only if they respected me as well.
And I would make them make me money.
3. Who's your favorite president? Why?
You know, I took a class on the American presidency my senior year of college. It wan an elective and I took it pass/fail so I wouldn’t have to worry about doing exceptionally well. I just wanted to learn.
I think I retained almost nothing. I remember so little, and it kills me, because I know I found the class interesting. And I chose to take it. I would have dropped it if I hated it as I didn’t need the credits to graduate. *sigh*
And the problem is that all of the Presidents (or many of them) are decent men, but they are still human. They have a lot of fuck ups as well as successes.
I like Lincoln. I think he did a very good job dealing with a country that was at war with itself. He seemed fair and just.
Recently, I like Clinton. Really. I do. He was charismatic and smart and he (eventually) owned up to his mistakes. He also kept the economy soaring, in a time when my family could have truly suffered from a recession, do I like that. And I know the economy isn’t all because of Clinton, but still. I voted for him. I liked him. I would vote for him again.
4. Who or what inspires you to be the best person you can be? Who or what can bring out the evil in you?
My mom inspires me to be the best I can be. She always encourages and supports me and she respects me, which I appreciate. And she is proud of me. I like that.
My friend Donna also seems to bring out the best in me, even when I am bitching. She is very supportive and funny and I really appreciate her. I am also inspired by myself when I am in a good mood. When I am complimented at work or when I feel I have done good.
What or who brings out the evil? Stupid Ex, traffic jams, pedestrians (all of them as they all walk slower than me). People who honk car horns way too much. People who take their time in line when they have already had five minutes or so to figure out what they want. People who say “I have exact change” and then spend five minutes digging though their pockets and/or purse trying to find that last penny. Even more when they don’t find it after all and just get the change. And then stand in front of the register organizing themselves: putting away change, fixing glasses, looking around, and rebalancing their bags. People who stop in a doorway or at the top of an escalator or in the middle of a sidewalk.
Huh. Apparently a lot inspires evil. And sadly, I am sure that is just the tip of the iceberg.
5. If you had to pick a place in the US other than Chicago and New York City to live, where would you go? Why?
Two places, I think. California, either San Francisco or San Diego. Both are warmer than New York (in the winter, at least) and everyone I know who has been to either place just raves about them. San Diego caters to my love constant 72 degrees and sunny (perfect weather) and San Francisco caters to my love of cool and crisp and foggy weather.
Also – I went to High School in Maryland, and I really liked it, especially DC. I think I would like to live there. It is such a great city and I feel that if I lived there I would be more inspired to learn about politics, which I admittedly know little about.
2b. the Pacific North West. Beautiful, lush, green, rainy. Though if I lived there I don’t think I would get anything done. I would be wanting to spend all day every day drinking tea and reading a book in a cozy alcove or window seat.
