I got home to night and there was an Amazon box in front of my door (a mini squee, if ever there was one). I was expecting the box as my mom told me it was coming, but I didn't know what was in it.

I go inside, get comfy and open the box.

Which has Slayer Slang: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Lexicon in it.

My mom bought me a Buffy book. Completely of her own free will. I didn't hint at wanting one, I didn't send and subliminal messages. She saw it, she thought of it, she got it.

I love my mom.

I called her and told her and she made a comment about my being obsessed and all and I was able to point out that she's now an enabler. And when I said I wasn't really obsessed because I don't read fic, write fic go to cons dress up as a character and go to cons she replied that I was right and she doesn't have to worry about me being obsessed with Buffy as I am now obsessed with gay men (I've neglected to tell her of my Spander love. Or Spiles. Or Spwes. Or Spilesley).

I so love my mom.

ps- in case you are wondering, the book is all about the language of Buffy (as you may have gathered from the title) and it has a glossary and discussion of linguistics and it is just so cool. And (Yay) one of the glossary entries is 'Spuffy'.

ETA- how curious that when I spell checked I had misspelled 'glossary' and 'entries' but not linguistics. My brain works funny.

Hey I read a lot of that book in Borders one day. (Yes I know, lame. I refuse to purchase it. LOL)

Isn't Jane E.'s intro hilarious?
