I'm not quite sure how this worked out, but I assume it has to do with the 45 minute lie-down I had when I got home.

So, today was something of a bear of a day. It just . . . was.

By the time I got out at 5:10ish I was all "I'll go to Trader Joe's. No I'll just go to Dominics. Maybe I should just pick something up? But I don't want to spend money on take out. Well, I'll just go to Trader Joe's. Eh, I don't feel like it, I'll go to Dominics. Ehhhhhh, I don't want to go to Dominics. Maybe I'll pick something up. But I don't want to spend the money".

Repeat, repeat, repeat.

So I ended up doing nothing. I mean, I know I had *some* food in my house. I had beets! Zucchini and yellow squash! Bread! Tomatoes, fresh from Peter's jungle!

And so I just went home with no plan in mind, just a desire to not deal with, well, anything.

So I came home and had a lie-down while the oven preheated.

Then I woke up and I cooked.

My dinner was awesome.

Using the ingredients in my kitchen I had:

Two pieces of french bread, sliced thin with goat cheese, baby spinach and tomato, roasted beets and zucchini and summer squash sauteed in olive oil with a little bit of garlic and then tossed in a pinch or two of sea salt.

And people, it was fantastic.

I'm not sure how an hour of cooking contributes to my laziness, but it really feels like I took the lazy way out of dinner and came out on top!

AND!

I have peach pie for dessert.

My weekend was wonderful. Farmer's market, Peter, Sunday at the Art Institute. Many pictures and much fun. I also saw Brigadoon which was charming but with creepy religious undertone that made it less, less, less charming. Also, it got somewhat dark, indeed.

Actually, it wasn't all that charming. It was entertaining and it was good but it was also selfish and, as I said, dark and creepy (in a "one of us" kind of way, not a scary kind of way).

Well, I've seen it now.

And Gene Kelly is just such an amazing dancer. All of the dancers were so talented and graceful but Gene Kelly makes them all look like clunkers. I guess you just have to, at some level, be born to it.

Amazing.

Now to pie!

Brigadoon is a REALLY not good movie, but still oddly compelling.
