So, my weekend was awesome.

Yeah, it's true.

One reason it was awesome, just to get this out of the way, is that I NEVER HAVE TO GO BACK TO LONG GROVE, HUZZAH!

Really, it's just terrible.

But my weekend!

Friday night was quiet. I did a little unpacking and some eating of foodstuffs and I finally mostly finished The Sandman (I have about half of volume ten left which I will probably finish tomorrow night) and went to bed later than I meant to because of that.

But I didn't mind! Because I slept in on Saturday and by the time I was up and showered Peter was here and we went for our awesome breakfast picnic, then went to the Field Museum which is *always* an excellent time, and then came home and watched The Last Unicorn which was charming and Jeffrey which was funny but sad and I didn't so much love the character of Jeffery though I did think Steven Weber was very good.

This morning we woke up early (for us) lured by the thought of a nice brunch in Long Grove followed by a stroll through the art fair and then watching Patchouli.

Fun!

Except we got to Long Grove, went to the brunch place and the hostess basically said, "Too bad suckers. I know that there are a lot of people eating breakfast at 9:30 this morning which is the time it is now, and I know there is outdoor seating and two rooms of seating in here and I ALSO know that we advertise a Saturday and Sunday breakfast but because of the party being held in one of the rooms (maybe a Christening party?) and because of the art fair (which, may I interject, THE HELL?) we decided to stop serving breakfast so you are SOL but hey! come back and see us again sometime when you have no reason to be in Long Grove".

Or so I paraphrase.

But, to recap: there was some sort of party happening in one room of a two room plus outdoor seating restaurant.

And there was an Art Fair in the village.

So they close the restaurant?

In what world does this make any sort of sense?

Oh we might be really busy and make a lot of money! We don't want that to happen, heaveeeeeen forbid!

So Peter and I drove down the road a bit to a diner-type breakfast place that was just fine and actually very filling in a pretty good way so that's something.

Then we went back to the Village and searched for a spot to part because the Art Fair was being held in one of the parking lots.

Again, the hell?

But the art itself was fine (though it was only two short rows) and the people were nice (the artists, that is) and then we got to go see Patchouli which is always a good thing, though they seemed kind of off today, too.

Probably because they were playing in Long Grove.

At some point, I think at breakfast, Peter looked at me and said, "Lets not go to Long Grove anymore" and I said, "no problem-o" and so it was decreed. Huzzah!

Then we went to the Irish shop so Peter could stock up on his Irish food needs and we went back to his place where I was attacked by his vampire cat who is such a sweetheart and the biggest showoff and flirt. I love him, so.

I ended up dozing off which turned into a full fledged nap and Peter did some house-stuff.

Then the problem with the leaking a/c condensation was noticed so Peter played with that for a while. Then we had a delicious dinner at Joe's Crab Shack and then he drove me home (almost no traffic! A Chicago miracle) and we chilled in his car in front of my place for a while and then he went home and I am updating. I assume he is home now and fiddling with his a/c, testing his theories and seeing if he was (proving that he was) right.

Pictures of my lovely day!

I NEVER HAVE TO GO BACK TO LONG GROVE, HUZZAH!

But I might! Or somewhere in that vicinity. Details are sketchy, as is my grasp of Illinois geography.

Two questions: 1)Are there a lot of art fairs in the Chicago suburbs? I don't think they really do that here. 2)No farmers market today?

See, the vicinity is okay. The town itself is truly evil.

Go forth with caution.

Answers!
1) There are a lot of art fairs in the Chicago suburbs!
2) No farmers market this whole weekend! Well, other then the one I went to to get blueberries and cheese curds (not together). My mom was happy to give me a break because I have been working OMGSOHARD and so I took it. I'll be back this Saturday. Then off next Saturday. Then on the following. Then off after that (because [livejournal.com profile] thehappyluddite is coming to visit!) and then who knows.

OH! Guess what?!?! My mom is going to be selling her soup IN AN ACTUAL GROCERY STORE!!!

Dance of joy, that is what I do EVERY TIME I THINK OF IT!

Now, when are you coming to Long Grove, The Land of Evil? Next Spring? Also, I have completely failed you in the 'find the registry place' game. I haven't forgotten (well, ok, I kind of did but I remembered and I am on it!)

xoxo

Oooh-a super-market! Why, that's just super! (Sorry, I had to.) That is so exciting. What does she call her product? Do your siblings fill in when you are off?

I am jealous of your rendezvous with the happyluddite. Damn you & your centrally located residence.

I shall be in the area in May '09. I know. Sooooooo far away. I found the registry place. Well, I was told. Carsons. Carsons? I had never heard of that before. Apparently it is a department store. Is it wrong that I only want to buy people gifts that I would buy for myself? For example, if I don't like their china pattern, I can't buy them any pieces of it.

By the way, dating sounds like fun, what with the art fairs & picnics & such.

That was a wonderful day! It made me happy just reading about it. Also, Peekie does indeed have a wonderful tummy. *furtively skritches*

It was lovely, for sure. I love Peekie's tummy. I try to skritch it at every opportunity.

She . . . is not so fond.

What's "watching Patchouli?" Is it a theater group of some kind?

Oh, they are a fold duo who have very feel-good music and I quite like them which I was definitely dubious about.

I also like them, besides liking them for them, because I saw them on my first date with Peter.

Awwwwww.
