This weekend was a truly lovely weekend. Not rushed, not stressful, not exhausting or overwhelming or in any way bad. The only moment of not greatness was yesterday afternoon when Peter and I were driving out to the Suburbs and I was suddenly very tired and hungry - I practically felt my blood sugar plummet - but then we got to Peter's office where he fed me sweets and nuts and goldfish crackers and I was a much happier me.

Friday was quiet. I got home from work and unpacked a lot, maybe a half dozen boxes, and went to bed early.

Saturday I was up at five to work the Farmers Market which was, as always, a lot of fun. Peter met me at the Market around 10:30 and we went out for brunch at Bistro Zinc, one of our favorite places, stopped off at my place so I could do a few things and headed out to the 'burbs so he could do one thing for work before dinner with his parents. We had a lovely dinner outside and when it got buggy we moved inside and watched The Onion Movie which was very funny and a total satire but still strange to watch with my boyfriend's parents.

Then we came back to my place and passed the heckola out.

Today was just fantastic. When my only complaint about the day was that service at brunch was slow, slow, slow, then it's a wonderful day, indeed. I spent the morning and early afternoon with Peter, brunching and relaxing and watching the end of Tampopo which we started watching a few weeks back. It is such a fun and funny and charming movie. I recommend this movie quite emphatically.

After the movie and a little lie down *cough* Peter dropped me off at the grocery store and made his way home. I got most of the things on my list and then headed home where I, miraculously, did everything I wanted to:

* Laundry, including a bleach load which is always a pain because I always double-wash bleached clothes so there is no lingering smell. I also washed most of the rags and towels that I used in the move. Productive!

* Lunch! I made tuna salad and a simple side salad (lettuce, spinach, carrots, tomato, pepper, zucchini) for my lunch for the week and I hard boiled some eggs so I can make egg salad, too. I didn't make it tonight so that it wouldn't get mushy if it sat for a few days.

* More unpacking! I am down to about a half-dozen boxes. I probably won't get to them all tonight, but I still feel like serious progress has been made. And when I am completely unpacked I can get on with the organizing of everything. Especially books which - other then the GIA stuff and my Top Shelf Books - have been shoved haphazardly on any available surface.

* Dishes! I cleaned up after myself!

One thing though, that is less good: Peekie is having a difficult time dealing with the move. I think part of it is that there is so much chaos and she is 14 and old and arthritic and crotchety. And there are no rugs here which means no schooching.

I know, I know, a bad and gross habit that I should be happy is curbed, at least temporarily. But you know about the arthritis? She can't reach certain areas to clean, anymore, and I am afraid that she is going to get sick if she can't clean herself. So I think after work tomorrow I am going to stop and get a cheap, non-slip bathmat that she might be able to use. Something that will be easy to clean and I can keep in a corner.

I know this is a less then lovely conversation, but she had been complaining loudly and frequently and I want to make her happy here.

Also, I am going to find pet steps.

Anyone know a good place to get some not completely cheap looking stairs I can put next to my bed? The ones at Petco are crap.

BUT ANYWAY.

I am off to find . . . someplace to put my votive holders. That is the last goal for the day.

Sleep well, lovelies!

Aw, poor Peekie. I hope she'll settle in soon.

What a lovely weekend. And check petedge.com for stairs. They have good quality stuff and good prices.
