Soup has lost all meaning
Jun. 28th, 2008 06:55 pm1) I spent five hours this morning (plus one setting up-ish) hawking soup. And we did good*!
Despite not selling all of it this week was our best take yet! People really like it and it is definitely fun to do. I am, though, very sleepy when I get up at 6:00 to do the free labor for my mother (she has no employees so she isn't obligated to get unemployment insurance. I am 100% a volunteer, anyway, but I really *am* a volunteer. She does everything anyway.
Have I mentioned how proud of her I am? Because I am so, so proud of her. She has this amazing product (Lentil soup with Italian chicken sausage, lentil soup with Italian pork sausage, lentil and bean (great white northern and red kidney), veggie and bean and plain veggie). She makes it every Wednesday in an industrial kitchen and she has been working *hard* on this.
She's amazing. I tell her that, but now I am telling you.
Go mom. You rock. This, in a round about way, leads to
2) I have an apartment! Hooray! It is smaller and cosy and there isn't a dishwasher but I don't care because it is under the price I was looking for, it's in Lincoln Park, two long blocks and two short blocks from the subway, it's a one bedroom, I can have pets and I love it and my mom's boyfriend owns the building so he's my new landlord.
Basically he said if i wanted it it was mine. And I really wanted it. It was so fast, too! A tennant called to extend the lease a month and he wrote down a year so she called about moving out on Wednesday (like, three days ago) and moved out Friday which is when my mom told me it was available and I saw it last night and then BOOM! I have a place.
Yipee!
I think I shall move in the last weekend in July. I'm freaking giddy. It's exactly how I pictured any apartment I had (though with less closet space and no dishwasher). Things like a doorman and a/c have always been less important to me (thought the old tenant left two window a/c units that I can have) and the two *most* important things - being cat friendly and close to public transportation - are there in spades.
And I am about three blocks away from Lori's Discount shoes.
People. I am living the dream!
3) I think I had a three, but I forgot what it is. I'm very content at this exact moment. I'm in my bed, on the 'puter and the cat is all sleepycozy next to me. I have fresh blueberries and strawberries and I have a place to live that is actually, possibly, hopefully within my means (OMG!). Maybe tomorrow I will be dreadfully bitchy but tonight I am good. And I got a pedicure earlier, after my three hour nap.
I actually don't mind getting up early on the weekends. I love sleeping in, don't get me wrong, and I love lounging around in bed, especially if there is someone to lounge around with (which there is! Yay!) but it is satisfying to know that I have had a busy and full day by noon. I mean, six hours of work that early in the day! And then anything else I do, it still feels like I *did* something today. Like I accomplished something.
So it's all good.
* Bad grammar, I know. But it gets the point across.

Date: 2008-06-29 12:46 am (UTC)But it's all good and Peekie and I are on to better things. Huzzah!
And my mom's soup, no matter how sick of it I get, is really, genuinely good. I mean, she wouldn't sell it if it wasn't, but still. Dee-licious.
