Well, here I am, another year older, wiser, more beautiful, more gracious, more extraordinary and, of course, more humble.

(sorry for the repeat those that saw the similar on facebook. It made me laugh to much not to use it twice).

I had a lovely birthday and introduction to my 32nd year. I was maybe a bit crabby in the morning and the work day was ridiculously long, but the evening was fantastic and I am loved, indeed.

And all of the wonderful birthday wishes from my flist and the calls and emails and cards from my friends were just the best ever.

Thank you, truly, for your kindness and love.

Last night was kind of a double win, too, because Mom, Peter, Jenny, Jack, David and Bob took me out to dinner at A Tavola a tiny little restaurant in Ukrainian Village. Peter picked me up around 6:30 and we got their fairly early which was excellent because right down the street was a pierogi place!

!!!!

Of course we had to go as I haven't had a good pierogi since I moved back to Chicago. And most of what they had was prepackaged but I was assured by my Polish boyfriend that it was still a very good brand and so I ended up getting four packs in spinach, potato and cheddar, strawberry and sweet cream. I just had some of the spinach and potato cheddar with dinner and maybe in a few I'll have some sweet cream which I *really* want to try.

Then we met my family and really, it was just a wonderful evening. I got a furry and bejeweled tiara and some lovely bead necklaces (everyone seemed to know it was my birthday when I put them on. I wonder why?) My brother got me a gift certificate at the spa near my dermatologist which is excellent (I now have three spa gift certificates. This is a banner year indeed) -

OMG!

And HE SEEMS TO HAVE MADE AMENDS WITH PEEKIE!!!!

This is HUGE people because there is NO love lost between David and Peekie (David, I think, resented Peekie because he was very allergic to and had to give away his cat. Peekie hated David because he was a 13 year old boy and, well, how do you think he treated his sister's cat?)!

But David and Peekie both signed the same the card!

A Birthday Miracle indeed -

and my mom is framing a print I got myself for my birthday last year. Bob got me a gift certificate to an excellent restaurant and Jenny and Jack got me a lovely body scrub and, well. They are flowers. They are potted flowers. The are fake potted flowers.

And they dance.

Clearly the best present ever.

Oh! And on Saturday night Peter got me Planet Earth which I have wanted since I saw some of it with The Happy Luddite last year in Seattle! And a book on Feng Shaun! And he made me a CD. (I really like that he made me a CD. I like him, you see) (don't tell, it's a secret!)

=)

Anyway, that was my lovely birthday.

And I recommend the short ribs and risotto. Bliss and bliss.

~

Work today (and possibly tomorrow) was really, really weird in that we are getting new rugs throughout the store so we couldn't put out any inventory at all and, in fact, had to clear shelves we rarely clear. I did some stuff I've been putting off and faced some clusterfucks head-on because I am 32 now and very brave, indeed, and then spent about five hours doing busy work of the Data Entry sort which is just excruciatingly boring and I can't believe I was in a job where I did data entry for about nine months.

Tonight I will go to bed early because I haven't been. Tomorrow I will possibly be looking at apartments.

Oh, June is a busy month indeed.

The Great David-Peekie Peace Accord of 2008 is possibly the most historic thing I have ever experienced.

Truly, we live in magical times.

And I love the CD. It's an awesome mix it makes me happy.

I have those! They're sunflowers and sing, "You Are My Sunshine."

I know those! But mine actually play swing music. That one song that everyone knows but I couldn't name if you paid me. Not the other one, but the one. I know one is called Sing, Sing, Sing (funny, as there are no lyrics, I'm pretty sure). It's not that.

That was clear, right? =D
