This is a partial transcript of James' comments at MR. It isn't complete, but it does have the kerfuffle.
1) The transcriber couldn't hear the audience in the beginning so there aren't any questions. It kind of looks like stream of conscious. But then the questions start about mid way down.
2) Reading what he said, I have no problem with what he said. I disagree (in that he seems to imply that Angel is the perfect boyfriend, but Spike isn't which is such a double standard IMO) with what he said, but I didn't see blame or anything. He comments seem pretty consistent with every other Q&A. I can understand why someone can take the comments as blame (there were 'you guys . . .' comments) but I personally didn't see blame.
- I’m a firm believer in actors doing what they’re told. Because actors are not aware of the whole thing, they’re paid to be subjective about it. And their concerns tend to be, therefore, selfish. And they don’t- and they shouldn’t really, have an eye on the bigger picture.

I like this quote and I think that this may be a decent sized part of why James is a BA 'shipper. He is paid to be Spike, and in a Spike mindframe and I think that if he became a big ol' Spuffy 'shipper then it would screw up his portrayal of Spike. That whole method acting thing.
