1. Are you named after anyone?
Not really. Sort of. But not really. You see, my mom had a 'Dick and Jane' type reader in first grade. But instead of 'Dick' and 'Jane' their names were 'Anne' and 'David'. Guess what my brother's name is?

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
If I have a boy his name will be Paul, after my dad. This is pretty much set in stone for me. I like the name anyway and I like the dad and I would love to honor him in that way. I also like Henry and Ben. Girls are different. Right now I love the name Abigail (Abby). And Liliana (Lily). And Katharine (Kate). Also, I'm playing with Susan, which is my mom's name.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
I would have been David. Funny, though. When my brother was born he was Baby Boy [last name] for four days because my parents couldn't decide between David, John and Peter.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
Actually, I really like Anne. I fit my name.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do with your name constantly?
I get 'Erin' a lot over the phone. And people love to exclude the 'e'. My biggest pet peeve, though, is people who tell me my name is pronounced 'Annie' because it has the 'e' on the end. RAGE!!! Annie is A-N-N-I-E. The 'e' is silent. But vitally important. And DON'T tell me how to pronounce my name! Anne? Not an uncommon name (though a friend once told me it was really old fashioned and plain. WTF?). Just because some punk-asses spell it without the 'E' which is WRONG (er, no offense to the punk-asses reading this) and has no closure doesn't mean that everyone does.

Dude, such a peeve. GRRRR!

6. Any nicknames you are fond of?
Annie. As a nickname it is a good name. Though it's, technically, longer, so it is a nickname? Anyway, my family and most of the people I grew up with call me Annie and it's no problem. Some people call me Annie and it makes my teeth itch (my boss, people I don't like in RL, that kind of thing) but overall if I know you and have some familiarity than it's cool. Also, Angel Chicken. Or AC. =)

eta: I am being very good and not running my dishwasher and only have my AC on medium (which, in this heat I think is a major concession) but despite my trying to not be an energy hog my bathroom light is out. Again. For the fourth time since I moved in. I'm begining to think it is more than just a blown fuse . . .

Perhaps the socket was cursed by an angry shaman?

That's what I'd conclude, anyway.

We had a cold front move in yesterday--it didn't top 80* today. Ahhhhhh.

Exactly! Anyone who's read Anne of Green Gables knows that the "e" is a necessity!!!

... the rest of the world are heathens whose opinions don't matter. Nyah.

Right now I love the name Abigail (Abby).

I commend you on your excellent taste!

Dude,

I wasn't the one who said Anne was really old-fashioned and plain and shit, right? Because if I said that, I was wrong. And stupid and young. Anne is strong and beauteous, not old-fashioned and plain!!! (Who told you that old-fashioned and plain stuff, anyway?)

Sara S.

PS: You should move to Seattle! It's been nice and cool here all week...no air-conditioning needed.

Heh, it totally wasn't you! I promise! I'll tell you next time we talk, but it was a fordham chick and not Heather or Annie (in case they are reading this).

Oh god, Seattle looks *nice* right about now. I'm about to pass out.

I have the same thing with the lightbulbs. It follows me in apartments actually. My lightbulb changer now won't replace any until we are in total darkness.
And seriously. . .Ann-eeeeee??? weirdos. My brother suggests you spell it An. ~H

Heh. I considered An for a while. But it's a bit too emo for me. Also, your lightbulb changer? HEEEEEE!

It's interesting, though. The lights go out twice in the week I speak to you...
