Staten Island has 78 cemeteries. Does that seem excessive to anyone else?

I love how random you are on weekends. But that does seem like an awful lot of graveyards.

Right? What on earth? I mean, it's not even the biggest borough! I think it's actually one of the smallest! Unless, of course, I am totally wrong.

The weekends are the best time for random.

*google*
*calculator*

That's about one cemetery per 5,900 people.

(I have no idea if that's a large or small amount.)

I am dismayed that you haven't run a comparison of cemetery per capita rates for different areas in order to determine where Staten Island falls on the cemetery-having continuum. You're risking ruining your geek cred, my friend.

Wait, there's hope. I see him over there, Googling something. And he had the computer calculator out. Hmm.

(Yes, we are sitting here in the very same room, interacting online. Behold our Saturday night fun.)

I have no idea either. But I'm going to say it's a lot, because Staten Island isn't all that big. So those have to be some wee little cemeteries or else the island is mostly cemetery.

Well, they do have a lot of vampires, so it makes sense.

I dunno, babe...it *is* SI after all. One would have to reckon the murder/suicide pacts would skyrocket every time the ferrys and other connections to civilization went down ;)

That is exactly why I make sure to have smart people on my flist. The simplest explanation is usually right, and what is more simple and logical than the inevitable murder/suicides! You are very brill. =)

I always thought that was so odd. I had to go to a funeral a year ago there and it was like meet the family day. We went to four different cemetaries afterwards to pay our respects. Biz-arre.
