My whole life I thought 'segue' was pronounced seeg, but it turns out it's actually seg-way. Huh. I am, apparently, very slow on the uptake. Are there other words that I am mispronouncing that I should know about? I need to be able to feign (pronounced fain, like rain) literacy.

Today my traitorous body woke me up at 6:15 even though I went to bed at one a.m. This is really getting annoying, I must say. So I read in bed for a bit then I: went blading in Prospect Park (approx. 4 mi), did mad laundry (FYI: don't launder your metro card. Trust me), put away laundry, spent 20 minutes reading lj and eating apple with peanut butter, went to store that buys used VHS tapes, got groceries, came home and dug out old VHS tapes to sell, loaded them all in my granny cart to schlep to the Vid place, got 50 clams for the same amount of tapes (Woo! It's like found money, yo), walked the Smith Street Street Fair, had an organic apple (yum), got my new favorite fruit shake (yum!) and came home. By this point it was, unbelievably, only two in the afternoon. Freaking productivity. So I bopped about for a bit, made chicken salad, egg salad and brussel sprouts, ate dinner, did mad dishes and here I am.

Maybe I'll go to sleep. Or play on the internet more.

Queue is pronounced "cue". Because that messed me up until I took French in high school. Eh. I like your version of segue.

You deserve a nap for all your hard work. :)

Dude, queue took me forever to figure out. Yeesh. Crazy Brits and their funny spelling.

I think maybe I'll just go to bed soon. That'd be nice. Yay, sleep! That's where I'm a viking!

Because segue and queue both end in 'ue'. But it's not que-way. Oh, no. Must be difficult.

Sleep! We are as gods.

Really? I couldn't figure out what the hell queue was for a while, before I finally settled on "kway." Back to the drawing board...

Kway makes sense to me.

Assuage is pronounced uh-SWAYj. I knew that, but one time my dad used the word "a-sewage" in a sentence, and Mom and I laughed and laughed.

Really? Hard 'a'? I always thought it was us-swahj. Thank you, Rae! (but if I glance at it quickly I have to do a double take because I always, without fail, think it's a-sausage. Which, in fact, it isn't).

I was confused for awhile when I learned that seque was "seg-way" because really. How the hell does that even work? I mean, I could see getting something like seg-oo out of it. But that's about it. Stupid english language.

"Quay" is pronounced "key". Took me saying that wrong for a few years before I got it right. And I said "epitome" wrong for years.
