I hate myself for loving you
Jun. 11th, 2005 03:22 pmTom, Tom, Tom. I just don't know what to do. I'm all freaked about how apparently psycho you've become and then I see a spread like the one in EW and suddenly I'm sixteen again and you're the hottie from Top Gun or I'm in my twenties and you're Jerry Maguire and I fall in love all over again.
I guess I'm just going to have to resign myself to always loving you no matter how bizarre you become. Unless you start raping puppies or something. Then we're through.
*sigh*
I had a unexpectedly lovely birthday. Not that I was expecting it to be bad even a little bit, but it ended up being more than I expected and that was such a delight! Yay!
When I woke up and went to take a shower I found a card from my new roommate (of a week at that point) as well as a good luck bamboo and a first edition Buffy comic! How wonderful is that? I mean, dude! I've known her for a week and she's already catering to the obsession with a superthoughtful present! She really didn't need to do that, so it was an extra nice surprise.
At work I got flowers from Vera (the chick who stares at me and freaks me out) and a card signed by pretty much everyone in the lab. How nice is that? The card is the absolute antithesis of me but it's totally the thought that counts. And people wrote some really nice things which was so wonderful. Also? Vera and Kim (you know the two chicks from the lab that I don't really like for legitimate reasons and the victims of the bitchy people who sit next to me) got me a cake! With a singing candle! So I shared it with everyone and there was great joy for me! YAY! I like feeling special.
Then after work I went and got a pedicure and indulged: I got the $50 spa pedi (their regular is $25. Still more than I usually pay, but I've been wanting to try this place for years) and it was so, so worth it! I was oiled and razored and massaged and painted and thrilled with the whole thing! Yay! I love it when you take a chance and it works!
I ran home, then, to check my mail. There were two wonderful cards from my mom (GLITTER!) and a nice check for rollerblades! Yipee! I love my mom and she has a card knack- she always finds the perfect card. I also checked my e-mail and found e-cards from
rocknrollgidget and
shadowlass and more of the songs I requested so that was a joy.
THEN!
I went to Bar Toto, which is on 6th and 11th in Brooklyn. My friend S moved to Seattle yesterday (which so sucks. I keep thinking of things we can't do now!
:( ) and so I was going to stop by her place to say goodbye before going to dinner with
dreago (more on that in a bit). But I got a call when I came home and it was S telling me my friend A's class was canceled due to a fire on the roof of her school (?!) and they were going to meet for drinks and maybe I could meet them there. I was going to meet them at seven then call dreago at 7:30 to make plans, but en route to the Bar I realized I wanted to have my (b-day) cake and eat it, too. I am nothing if not demanding. So I talked to Dreago and she ended up meeting me at Toto and the four of us had a lovely meal to celebrate my aging/S's leaving (*sniff*)
And Dreago? So incredibly sweet I can hardly stand it. She was so genuine and friendly and easy to talk to! She was telling us about belly dancing which, I must admit, sounds like a blast, and we were talking about fun things to do in the area and where to shop for furniture and not spend a fortune. Honestly, I was a wonderful day and a perfect birthday.
What a joy.
Today I worked and I spent the whole morning wondering why I worked. I mean, the extra money is nice and it looks good to the higher ups, but I didn't rally care about being at work. I went anyway. And worked.
After work I was all excited about going and buying Rollerblades! Until I tried to buy rollerblades. I'll just leave it at Modell's is woefully lacking and their employee bring apathy to a whole new level.
Took a long walk home, composed an even longer lj entry, don't have the energy to type anymore 'cause I'm all sleepy so I'll sum up my thoughts:
Snapple trifecta
Delicious Bananaberry smoothie
milk chocolate ghrams
Little Islam
Scary Target bathroom
Overpriced colander
And now I nap.
THANK YOU for all the love, everyone! It made me feel all special.
Oooo, thunder!
eta: Today I got two cards fom my sister. In one there was forty dollars for my birthday present. She told me I could spend it on a pair of Jackie O sunglasses for her 'cause I didn't give her mine when we were in Nashville. I love my sister. She cracks me up! =D

Why are things like that funny? I mean technically they shouldn't be and yet.
Saw some magazine today with Tom on the cover and on it it said, 'Tom wants to save your soul. Just as soon as he's done with Katie.' Ainslie and I stared at it for awhile trying to figure it out, trying to find some way that it sounded non-wrong and dirty but it didn't work.
