Stupid Monday
May. 16th, 2005 04:36 pmGuh. Today just would. not. end. I just graded and graded and graded and ignored everyone around me and did not want to be there at all. WOE!
But at least I had a wonderful and delightful Sunday to help buffer the Monday blahs.
I was supposed to go to a friends picnic yesterday but she canceled it as a wall fell down near where she lives (upper, upper west side Washington Heights-ish, I think) and so that was a no-go. But! BUT! I was propositioned by a saucy young thing who wanted to know if I was interested in wandering a Street Fair in Brooklyn with her. Of course I was!
And that is how I ended up spending Sunday afternoon with
_par_avion who, I must say, is an absolute delight. We met up at about the half way point to both of our 'hoods (I think) and walked over to Fifth Ave Bkyn where the fair was being held. And it was a perfect street fair. We ate sushi and chips and had absolutely decadent chocolate cupcakes and I bought a nice piece of amethyst geode which is something I have wanted for years. I had forgotten how much it looks like rock candy (geodes in general, I mean) and so not it is sitting on my desk at work and I have to remind myself not to lick it when I notice it as it is made out of different minerals and not - alas! - sugar. Oh well. It's still pretty.
After a few hours of meandering and people watching and talking about lj and work and Brooklyn and all we wandered back to her diggs (which, I might add, are fabulous) and ended up watching Buffy and Angel vids! I love Buffy and Angel vids and I haven't been able to watch them as much (well at all, really) as Macs don't come with Windows Media which is what is needed for most vids. But Par not only showed me many, many awesome vids that I had never seen before, she also e-mailed me a link that'll help me download WM so I can have vids, too! This is a good thing as when I had my Vaio I would open Media and literally spend hours vid-watching. So I was indeed a happy chicken.
I walked home and ended up rereading
rikki_oko's Indigo Overture which is one of my current fic obsessions and was updated when I was in Nashville! Woo! I love Buffy/Spike AUs.
Now I am home from the grind and I am going to make dinner, I think. Salad and dumplings and cheese and crackers, probably. I know, I know, I'm quite the crazy person.
I hope all of your Monday's are going much, much faster than mine did.
