Todays lesson is: ventilalte
Feb. 17th, 2005 05:57 pmI have just burned two of my fingers. On steam. Microwave steam. Because I did not ventilate. And not only that, they are actually blistering. So the burn is, you know, serious-ish. And as I have no ice in my house I have to rest them on frozen brussles sprouts.
But wow. This is pain (and a pain as the fingers I fried are on my right hand (fore and middle fingers) and my right hand is the one that isn't a complete gimp.
So don't forget to poke that hole, kids! And make sure you always have a package of frozen brussles sprouts in case of emergencies.
And owwwwwwww!

Date: 2005-02-17 11:23 pm (UTC)I know it may get tiring, but you really need to keep your fingers under some cold water, for at least ten minutes. If this means standing over the kitchen sink, so be it. You reall need to make sure the burn cools off (something most people don't know - the burned skin continues to burn under the surface because the body temp in that area has been raised and it can take awhile to cool down, thus LONG time under cold water.) Afterwards, since you don't have ice, just keep the area wet with a cold, damp cloth. This should help a bit.
Hope you feel better!
