Well, not so much good news and neither here nor there news, but I needed a started. Today at work we had a table party, which basically means that everyone from our group brings in food and we all eat. But there are lots of yummy things and so that's a treat. I brought in an applesauce cake, a sour cream coffee cake and a blueberry pie. Total amount spent: $8.00. Thank you Farmer's Market!
The Gooder News
Today, for the first time in a week, I did not have screaming pain in my tooth, so much that I didn't have to take a Vicodin, which is extra nice because Vicodin, while good with the pain killing (oh so good) is less good with other things, and the constipation warnings? Take them as Verse. I know, I know, waaaaaaay TMI, but some things you just need to warn people about. Yuck.
BUT! The important thing! No Tooth Pain! Except for when I bite down on it (as opposed to chewing which doesn't hurt or just having it exist which, thankfully, doesn't hurt anymore). It's a happy day.
The GOODEST News!
Today I got a pseudo-promotion at work. More like more responsibilities.
This? Rocks.
The main reason this rocks? It means that my work has been monitored (which I know as I get feedback every month) and that I am seen by my bosses as capable and competent and an asset to the grading. Which basically means I am doing a really good job and it has been noticed and is now reflected in my added responsibilities. Wow.
The other reasons it rocks? Well, for one thing, it will enhance my sagging stone count because I am doing a kind of speed grading (though it's not at blasé' as it sounds). And for another, the fact that I have more to do and am doing it well will reflect on my Special bonus which, we found out yesterday, we are getting at the end of the year. And finally: I think that this means that I am moving at a pace that I will probably be a double checker when the next round of promotions comes up (probably in about six months).
God, it's nice to be in a job where I am appreciated!
To celebrate my joyous mood I have decided to have a Depressing Movie Weekend consisting of really depressing movies that I have always meant to see but haven't. On the agenda: Dead Man Walking, The Magdalene Sisters and Leaving Las Vegas. Possibly Mystic River as well, if my friend remembers to bring it to work tomorrow, which is iffy. I figure that as I am in a relatively good place at the moment I can watch eight hours of gut-wrenching heartbreak and horror and end up maybe mildly or moderately depressed, as opposed to moderately depressed to suicidal, which I might have been if I had seen them, oh say, last winter (FUCK you, Dina).
To be fair, it won't be eight hours as I watched The Magdalene sisters tonight and, honestly, I was kind of bored. Yes, yes, based on a true story, horrible, horrible things, etcetera, etcetera and so forth, but it also dragged and dragged and dragged. So. One down. Requiem for A Dream was also horrific, but didn't drag. I appreciated that. So, since TMS was on DVD, I about half way through I forwarded it to the end and watched the whole second half in rewind, playing the parts that looked interesting.

Date: 2004-09-25 08:37 am (UTC)I got movies for this weekend, too. O, Brother. Where Art Thou? and the original Buffy. Mr. Sun hasn't seen either, and they're fun movies. :)

Date: 2004-09-28 08:31 pm (UTC)Also, I've found that Darvocet is a good thing. Not quite as much painkilley as Vicodin, but you can, like, THINK while on it. And not so much ow.
