A question for the mathy types.
Sep. 9th, 2004 05:53 pmRemember back in HS when you were learning percentages and fractions and decimals and stuff and you really only did a half assed job because Math? When am I ever going to use math?
And then you got into the real world and, huh, there's math.
Well, huh. I need math. And I suck at it (except for geometry in which I kicked *ass*).
So here's the question:
Let's say you have a test. And there are 53 questions on the test, all of an equal value. Now, lets say you get eight questions wrong.
What would be your grade, in percent, on the test?
In case you were curious, this is a work question. Since Friday I have graded 53 stones that have been "service completed" meaning they don't need to go to a triple checker or QA and the client will get the results. I got the clarity wrong on eight of those stones.
Now back to my veggie quesidillas. Mmmmmm.

53 100
solve for x (mutiply the diagonals)
53x = 800
x = 800 divided by 53
which is the percentage you got wrong
subtract from 100 to get the percentage you got right
or start off with 45 over 53, rather than 8 over 53
Congrats! You did good.

Those are supposed to be fractions
8/53 = x/100
