So. Late twenties, huh? How 'bout that.
I actually had a pretty fantastic birthday, truth be told (not that I was expecting it to be horrid, I just wasn't really expecting it to be anything).
Woke up, got to train, and opened the damn card that has been sitting on my table mocking me for two weeks now. Nice check from Mumsey.
Went to work. Cot a call from my mom. Then my sister. Then my mom again. :)
Worked throughout the day, as I am wont to do, occasionally talking calls from friends and loved ones. Friend H called and asked if I had any crazy b-day plans which, at that point, was a no. So she invited me to dinner, which was aces.
After work I went and bought myself a diskman and a CD holder for easy transport.
Then went to Barnes and Noble to meet H. As she didn't get out of work until 5:30, I ended up sitting on the floor by the magazines reading Buffy, Angel and SFX magazines. I was ever so content.
We ended up going out for mmmm, Mexican at a cozy place in Chelsea - Blue Moon (Blue Moon? I think that's it). It was tasty and fun and possibly our new replacement Mexican place, as we have been aimlessly floating about since the demise of the Flying Burrito.
A moment of silence for the Flying Burrito

Okay. Got a call from my brother and my mom (again. Yay!) and enjoyed a triple combo (it was two dollars more than the double and lunch for the next two days!) and a lovely margarita on the rocks which was really weak. And by weak I mean strong as hell. Delicious, of course. And H got me The Best of REM which is something I have been meaning to get for, like, months. YAY!
Talked to my sister (again) on the train, which was a delight and garnered dirty looks (though it isn't like I was screaming) and finally got home around nine. Because I am just that crazy. It was a school night. I had to get my sleep. Also, I'm a big ol' dork.
But the best part of the day, by far, was the wonderful call I got last night from
sunbrae!!!!!
Pardon me.
SQUEEEEEE!!!!
And she sang to me! I was so afraid that no one would sing to me on my birthday which, for some reason, made me sad. But she called and sang (my sister also sang, I wasn't deprived or anything) and she was such a sweetheart. Especially since I was a bit buzzed and out of it and had just responded to a b-day post from sweet
fenwic so I thought she said "Fenny" instead of "Sunny" so I thought I was talking to fen, even though she didn't sound right, and she was talking about the boys and I was kind of confused but I asked her about her move and mentioned wanting to call Sunny until it clicked that I was actually talking to Sunny who I have been meaning to call since SeaMonkey was born.
See above, re: dork.
Once I made all the normal connections we had a lovely conversation, and when we finally hung up (she had to put the monkeys down and I had to put myself down) I was grinning madly. A perfect way to end a wonderful birthday.
Thank you all, for the love and hugs. 28 isn't bad at all. And once I get over the "Holy crap I am the same age my mom was when she had me" thing I'm sure I'll be even better.
Maybe I'll get Storm Front tomorrow (though doubtful, as they haven't even e-mailed that it has been sent yet). A girl can dream.

Date: 2004-06-10 05:47 pm (UTC)I've found, though, that in the panic moments it does help to change the eight to a four. Yay! I'm 24! One more year and I'll be able to rent a car! WooHoo!
I mean, who uses chronology anymore?

Date: 2004-06-10 08:56 pm (UTC)See, how it works is, I can eat anything I want: Pizza, pasta, 12" Sub sandwhiches on white bread...but I won't gain any weight as long as I declare whatever I eat as a LOW CARB substance.
For example:
ME: "A glazed, jelly doughnut? Good thing it's a LOW CARB!"
Denial is my friend.

Date: 2004-06-11 02:22 am (UTC)Sorry it's a little late, but it's been a million years since I've had a chance to check in. It sounds like you had a good one, which is as it should be. So many happy returns of the day, my dear, and massive hugs!!!!

Date: 2004-06-11 11:17 am (UTC)And hee! to sunny/fennie confusion. For me, I'm still sorta shy about calling, especially cell phones (which is the only number I have for you). Besides, sunny singing is the preferable experience, I'm sure :)

Date: 2004-06-25 11:18 am (UTC)I'm so glad to be back and be caught up on your life. Even if it did involve an almost date with a married man.
