I have heard a lot of people saying "Gosh. I don't think we are going to have a Spring this year. Go straight from Winter to Summer. Shame, I love Spring" or some variation on that. Essentially they are saying that there is not going to be Spring this year.

So what are we in now?

-mid May. Check
-Average temperature in the sixties. Check
-Lots of rain. Check
-Budding flowers and trees. Check
-Sudden explosion of green. Check
-Been consistent for about three weeks or so. Check

So, am I wrong here? Seems like Spring to me. Is it just habit from those people who are used to New York going from 30 to 90 degrees in the matter of a week? Are they incapable of noticing the Spring-like weather (that usually indicates . . . Spring) or are they just really, really stupid?

I want to know. Really I do. I'm seeing Spring.

Heh. It's like that here in Chicago, too. And then they're all "Are we in a drought?" Well, considering the way it rained last weekend, I kinda don't think so. Pfffft.

Hee, I completley agree with you, especially after just spending an hour in Central Park. People have been saying that a lot around campus too. Usually during finals week, we've already had a very hot spell and people are outside all the time on the grass. But the thing is, it's only May! It's not supposed to be 90 every day; it's supposed to fluctuate, be warm some days (like today) and cooler and rainy on the other days. I'm completley weather obsessed and wish that it were warmer too, but really, this year things actually bloomed in a rather timely fashion. Every other year there's been some insanely warm weather quite early on, the flowers start to come out, and then they die when it gets all cold and freezing again.

They're stupid.

Heh.

It's been very springlike here, even though we don't get the EXTREMES of seasonry that NYC gets. Still, cooler, slightly less rainy? Spring.
