Fun filled day of Fun!
Jan. 19th, 2004 05:54 pmAnd by fun I mean waking up at 6:30 on a day off so I can brave the bitter cold to go into the city and go on a four hour long interview.
Good times, good times.
The agency was good. I took the Word and Excel tests. They told me I had an hour. I finished in fifteen minutes. And I have to say I'm kind of pissed. I got 17 out of 20 on my Excel test and the ones I got wrong were totally because I tired to use the short cut - which I'm used to - and I got marked wrong. I made an effort to avoid shortcuts, but I'm only human people! I get into the groove and then *BAM* a wrong answer. Le sigh.
Though I did get 20 out of 20 on the Word test. Oh yeah. I'm bad.
Everyone was impressed.
I also met with a temp rep at the agency because why the hell not? She was impressed. Said she could get me decent gigs that may turn permanent. It's all good. I also have an interview set up for 1:00 on Wednesday which means I am taking the day off! Fuck you, Dina. I'm going to be sick!
The GIA interview was . . . long. And if I get the job and take it I would have to put a few more years into New York. Not that it's all bad, but I was really convinced I would move back to Chicago this year. I want to. But the benefits are pretty incredible despite the ludicrously low salary.
After sixty days I get: Health, dental, vision, GG schooling (a $9000 course), vacation time.
After six months I get: disability (long and short term) pension, life insurance and 401k.
And apparently I could be making up to fifteen thousand dollars more within two to three years. That's not bad (though really? I should be making about that now. Ugh).
Also? I still know my diamond shit. And I had a good interview. And I PLOTTED!!!!!
I suck at plotting. Realllllllly suck. But I did a really good job. I'm pleased. And I was able to identify a stones color without a master set (this would be different shades of colorless). Oh yeah. I'm bad.
So I have some thinking to do.
I was so exhausted by the time I got to Penn I passed out on the train and woke up as the doors were opening at Bayside. Whew!
That's all. Now for din-din. Tomato soup, munster and cous-cous. Mmmmm.
