angelchickenThis was just so nifty! And after my three and a half hour nap, I needed something to bide my time. The only problem with napping is that you can't consciously enjoy it while it's happening. Only in retrospect. So, while literally sleeping the weekend away sounds all well and good, really it would be going to bed on Friday night and waking up in time for work, and nobody wants that. But if you were, say, aware of the fact that you were actually sleeping (consciously unconscious? How very Zen) then you would be able to think "Ha, ha! It's three o'clock in the afternoon and I am not working! Oh no! I am SLEEPING!! Yay!". But sadly, no.
Anyhoo, here is a fun and exciting meme. All of the quotes are pretty much from memory, so if you wanna correct me on them, please feel free.
1) Lessons: "How exactly do you make cereal?" "You put the cereal next to milk. I saw it on the food channel."; "It's about the Power"; "Again, the wrong sister. I'm the one who dated dead guys and, no offence, but they were hotties." I love me some chipper Buffy! And the end with the villains was so freaking fabulous. It still gives me chills.
2) Beneath You This one was much harder then expected. I love Living Conditions because it was so freaking funny and I think Real Me is a tighter episode, but BY just kills me. "Angel, he should have warned me"; "From beneath you, it devours"; "Can we rest now, Buffy? Can we rest?" God this episode just slays me. The image at he end just leaves me gutted. Also? Anya being so upset about the puppy. And her reaction to Spike - her absolute joy for him.
3) After Life, no question. (Though THLoD has a sentimental place in my heart because of the panther crawl and Spike brutally kicking Buffy's ass in the daylight). The camera work when Buffy reunites with the Scoobs; "147 days yesterday, 148 today. But today doesn't count, does it."; "Every night I save you" (I'm not made of stone, people!)
4) Out of My Mind "With her fancy shampoo commercial hair and her holier than thou attitude!" "Well, aren't we unholy by definition?"; The dream, people! The dream! And what is with the crappy ep. 4 selections? Many of my least favorite eps were from ep. four. Huh
5) Selfless God this was a wonderful episode. Genius! "I am Aud"; The subtitles; "That troll is doing an Olaf impersonation!" "Let’s throw fruit and various meat products at it"; "I killed Angel"; D'Hoffryn showing his true colors. Chilling. And the song- especially the cut from blissful song to sward through the chest. GAH! Dark, excellent, heartbreaking; "I'm a dope?" Thank you, Drew Goddard, for coming into my life.
6) Band Candy Ripper, Ethan, Snyder. "It's very Juice Newton"; "You're like Burt Reynolds"; Joyce with the hand cuffs (HA!); Ripper with the cop; the making out; the chemistry between Xander & Willow (footsie!); the Bronze "You're a tree! Hello, Little Tree! Do they have any nachos?"
7) Once More, With Feeling This was like asking me to choose between my (metaphorical, as I am without child) children. OM, WF, Fool for Love & Conversations with Dead People all episode number seven. And to choose between Subway Spike, Pop Psychology (I'm here to kill you, not to judge you) and Singing? Not easy. In the end I went with OM, WF because it truly is genius. Strong plot; great songs; big reveal; duet between Tara & Giles which still makes me shiver; The kiss, dear god the kiss; Xander & Anya's duet' "Witness arias"; all of "Walk through the Fire"; "If my heart could beat it would break my chest"; "She needs back up! Anya, Tara"; "They got! The Mustard! Out!" It's got it all.
8) Tabula Rasa (though Sleeper & Lover's Walk were both close). The one thing I remember from a TWoP recap is Ace or Sep describing this as the funniest sad episode or the saddest funny episode, and it is so, so true. Everyone trying to deal with Buffy's revelation; Buffy's raw anguish; Spike in the suit (snerk); the birth of Ganya (which I think is the real reason Giles got on that plane); The reaction to the vamps (I love that scream!); the bunnies; and the heartbreaking end, with the only Michelle Branch song I like; Tara's sorrow; Willows sorrow; Dawn's being upset; and the desperate, gorgeous, heartbreaking & hot kiss at the end.
9) Something Blue An unconventional choice, maybe, but I had to go with SB because it makes me laugh. Every time, without fail. Smashed has the hot, hot sex (which, for the record, I think is the hottest scene I have ever seen on television) and Never Leave Me has great Xander/Anya and "I believe in you, Spike", but SB just cracks me up, and is one of my top ten episodes: "What's wrong with Buffy?" "Such a good question"; "I don't like him. He's insipid. Clearly human" "Oh! Red paint! Smear a little on his lips - the blood of the innocent" "That's my girl"; Buffy and Riley's talk outside the Magic Shop "Spike? No! He's way old. Though not as old as my last boyfriend"; "Look at my poor exposed neck"; "How? What? How?" "Three excellent questions"; "Stop whatever it is you're doing. You smell like fruit roll-ups"
10) Amends HA! Scared you didn't I! No, no, not Amends. What's My Line 2. Xander & Cordy; "Spike's going down!" (snicker); Angel taunting Spike; "I'm thinking dinner and a movie. I've been hurt, you know"; "I'd rather be fighting you anyway"; and so, so much more.
11) Triangle Olaf; Spike and Xander commiserating; "I'd do that, but I'm paralyzed with not caring very much"; "That's insane troll logic!"; "And we're what? Surprised by this?" Fun and cute.
12) Checkpoint Spike flirting with Lydia "Heard of me, have you?" "I wrote my thesis on you." "Well. Isn't that neat"; Buffy's discussion with Giles pre-testing; A very flustered Willow and Tara being interrogated; "Willow's a demon?"; Buffy stepping up to Quentin and the Council; "I’m fairly certain I said no interruptions"; "They didn't put a chip in your head? Be funny if they did"; "You're the only one string enough to protect them; Bonding over Passions.
13) Dead Things First and foremost: Door sex. GUUUUUUH!; "We missed the bed again" "Lucky for the bed"; "Do you trust me"; "Please don't forgive me!"; Dawn's anger; Spike's trying to do the right thing; The fight with the Rotundi (or however it's spelled); Warren and then Andrew going from kinda bad to really evil, and Jonathan reluctantly going along; Kick ass Katrina
14) Innocence The crushing - crushing - post sex talk; "Shut up, Giles"; "What's that do?"; The best "call to arms" shot; "I'm seventeen. Looking at linoleum makes me want to have sex"; Willow kissage; Giles & Buffy at the end; Joyce & Buffy at the end.
15) Get it Done This isn't so much my favorite, so much as I like it more than the rest of the ep 15s. Buffy getting mean; Buffy and Dawn being very sisterly right before they find Chloe; The shadow puppets; "Nice coat, where'd you get it?" "New York"; "I don't know about you, mate, but a fight like that? It's good for the soul"
16) Right. I like 'em all. But I'm going to go with Who Are You (though, let me just say: "You did a love spell for me?"; "No! I'm evil! Look at my clothes!"; "You aren't supposed to touch the body!"; "Well, you know. Evil" (and Anya incorporating misogyny into her vows);"In my plan, we are beltless"). Okay then: "Because it's wrong"; "I could ride you at a gallop until your knees buckled and your eyes rolled back; "Tiny, tiny babies!"; Faith doing the right thing; "What's a Stevedore?"; "Can't you be all intuitive or something?"
17) Forever. I love LMPTM, but the emotions and the end of Forever just kill me. Even with Angel I still love it. It breaks my heart. Dawn trying to magic back Joyce (with Spikes help); "Who's going to take care of us?"; Spike bringing flowers; I think the end of this episode is the saddest scene on the show. SMG and MT just did a heartbreaking, beautiful job.
18) Intervention (hard choice. I love Entropy & Dirty girls, too). The Buffybot rocks; Spike taunting Glory; "We will bring you Bob Barker! We will bring you the limp and beaten body of Bob Barker!"; "Good plan Spike"; "I didn't sleep with Spike. I had sex with Spike"; "Lots of times. I can make sketches"; "And that's what it's all about"; Spike explaining who he let Glory kick the shit out of him; "What you did for me, and for Dawn, that was real. I won't forget it"

21) Graduation Day Part One Chick Fight; Giles & Wesley fencing (heeee!); The Mayor visiting the library; "Look at you. All dressed up in big sister's clothes"; "You did it B. You killed me. Still not going to save your boy, though"
22) Christ. I love 'em all. But Becoming Part 2 is my favorite Buffy ep ever, so that would take the spot. "Take all that away and what's left?" "Me"; "Don't I know you?"
