Since all the cool kids are doing it, I'm going to post thirteen things. I have about six long, involved posts composed but am far too lazy to post them. This is good. Succinct. ish.

Here we go:

13. I just (literally, like three minutes ago) painted my nails red (and now I'm typing. Stupid or brave? You be the judge). I just like the idea of greeting the new year with freshly painted red nails. If there is some superstition about red nails and the new year I don't want to know. Knowing me, I'll take it to heart, and that's no good. My neurosis cup is already overflowing.

12. No work 'til Monday! Whee! I am the Rockafeller skank.

11. Tonight? Thai. And then drinking in Brooklyn. Keeping it mellow, yo.

10. The following people are evil: people who walk slower then me; people who stop/congregate at the top/ bottom of stairs/escalators/moving walkways/street corners; everyone who has ever driven in Manhattan; when I'm driving, pedestrians and when I'm walking, motorists. There are many more, but I can't think of them off hand. But they are out there. Oh yes. They are.

9. 2004 is going to be the year I date. I need to date. I really do. And, even more, I need to get laid. I want to have sex by June 30, 2004 for . . . reasons. Just know it's been a while. Yay to sex in 2004!

8. Happiness is my new CD-burning capabilities. I think I am going to burn a seventies mix for my sister for her birthday. She is having a seventies themed party in a week, and I'd like to contribute. My baby's all grown up!!!

7. If I got pregnant tonight, I'd have a baby in September. Yeesh. I don't plan on getting pregnant, but it's a bizarre thought.

6. There is no six.

5. I work much better when my boss isn't asking me what I'm doing every five minutes. Doing the mail (to help out) this morning took three hours because she kept bothering me and then fucking helping. I would have been done much sooner if she had just left me the fuck alone. Grr.

4. Tom Jones, man. Tom Jones.

3. I have serious issues with the misuse of the word irony. But this probably deserves a post of its own. Just know that nothing in Alanis Morisette's song is ironic.

2. I have no clue what I am going to do all weekend, other than laundry. I kind of like that. I wish all weekends were four and a half days.

1. I put this last because I want to cut for Chance spoilers. I felt like doing nothing last night, so I just unpacked then watched some Buffy and then some Chance. I watched the commentary from The Body which was quite the upper, let me tell you. But I balanced it out with the yummy James parts of Chance.

There were a few things that struck me:

1) In the scene when Simon (James) tries on Chance's (Amber Benson) red lipstick and then kisses the mirror, my initial thought was not "Ooooh! James is putting on lipstick!" but "How the hell is he putting on lipstick left handed?" Yes. I know he is a lefty, but I am so, so not, and it always baffles me to see things like that. My world is teeeeeeny.

2) When Simon and Chance kiss, my first thought is still "Dude. Spike and Tara are kissing. That is So. Weird."

3) "You seem to have a lot of success conceiving in transit" BWAH!

4) It really is a terrible movie, but has some great parts. I love the asylum. And is NB's wife really British? Or was that a horrible accent that I just don't recognize as horrible?

Have a fun, happy and safe New Year's everyone!

"you're a sex bomb. a sex bomb. & you can turn me on." i do hope that you're referring to the welshman, rather than the novel by the same name. ;)

"How the hell is he putting on lipstick left handed?"

"you're a sex bomb..." oh, sorry. hee hee.

i wish i was drinking in brooklyn. mr. alice & i seriously thought about doing the holidays in new york this year, but as we'll still be paying off labor day weekend in new york next labor day, that plan was vetoed. so we'll be watching times square on TV instead, in a friend's apartment (which looks remarkably like the apartment in chance), in austin's version of williambsburg (for argument's sake airport blvd will be the east river).

You know it. What's new, Pussycat?

And Hee! New Year's in Brooklyn was fun, but so, so low key. A friends apartment sounds really nice. My favorite part of the evening was walking tot he subway around 12:30 when everyone was outside drunk and happy and celebrating. It may as well have been the middle of the afternoon. Everyone loves everyone in New York during the holidays!
