So, I just watched Sweet Home Alabama, so I now feel justified with keeping it out a week late.

And it was cute. Formulaic and kind of phoned in, yes, but cute. And the guy who played Jake has really fucking pretty eyes.

But I just can't watch a movie with Patrick Dempsey anymore without thinking that he is the reason that I won't be seeing James kissing boys like, say, him. The bastard. How could anyone not want to kiss James (she rhetorically asks)?

Also? When does the Gay Xander in Canada movie come out? I want to see it. Now.

You didn't find it kind of creepy with the whole 'rehabilitating the Confederacy' subtext? The 'New South' movement seems to me to just be one big apologia for white Southern culture (minus the great writers, but with extra dollops of bigotry, anti-intellectualism and religious extremism).

See, you're assuming I actually paid attention to most of the movie. I had it on while doing crap around my apartment and really only learned that Jake had blue, blue eyes, Old Southern men (really old ones) fire anvils in their back yard and women from Alabama breast feed in bars. You mean that doesn't happen?

It really did play up every Southern stereotype it could think of, but it was such a nothing movie that it didn't bother me. If it had been a movie of any substance I might have felt differently, though.

Oh! And I was upset at Patrick Dempsey, too. Stupid Dempsey. Too bad he peaked at "Can't Buy Me Love".

I heard that Mr. Mr. dropped out (when he learned about having to kiss James. Loser)and then it lost it's funding, or something. But if you know something I don't know, please let me know! I soooo want to see Gay!Oppressed!Italian!James!

I swear to Joss it's true. NB is in Canada (or was in Canada) filming a movie where he is a friend of the lead and gay. I think maybe it is being made for ABC Family. Or possibly Lifetime. Yeah, it's a made for TV movie and might be utter shite, but I sat through Winding Roads. Gay Xander in Canada seems much more . . . intriguing.
