angelchicken: (Instant gratification)
[personal profile] angelchicken
I did laundry! Kiss my ass, dirty clothes. Your ass is no longer grass! Bouh-ah!

I shopped. It was cathartic. It's been a while and I really felt that it was essential to spend money I didn't have on things I didn't need. Go me!

Actually, to be fair, I did also buy things I needed. Yay me!

A list:

Things I needed:
- Undies: six pairs from Vicki's- five low rise bikini cotton (what I usually get), and one kind of boy cut that was cute so I though what the hell. Though if I try them on and they are the most uncomfortable pair of pants to grace my ass you can bet they will be banished to the back of my undie drawer faster than you can say "wedgie". So I suppose that sixth pair wasn't really needed, but they were in my "newly bought undies" pile so they joined the group.

- Elton John's Greatest Hits 1976-1986. Essential. Since I have been home I have had the song on repeat, pausing in my typing to blast the chorus and sing along at the top of my lungs. And I just took a fifteen minute break from this update because I had to call my mom and play it for her.

- Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Why do I need this? [livejournal.com profile] adjrun said so.

- With this Ring: A For Better or For Worse Collection. Yes. I did need this. Some people have comic books, I have comic strips.

- July 2003 SFX because it was there (at the bookstore) and there is a big Buffy article. I'm only human.

- Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. I wasn't going to put this under the "I need" section, but then I told my mom I got it and apparently I have relatives mentioned (they, by the by are not Mormon Fundamentalists. But one of my great uncles was head of the Mormon church. So he's mentioned).

- Godiva biscuits 4-pack. Go ahead. Tell me I don't need this. But know that you'd be wrong. Besides, they were right by the register at B&N and my instant gratification impulse has been denied for so, so long.

Things I didn't need:
- Those boy-cut undies. But maybe they will be really comfortable, and then I will have needed them. So I am covering all bases.

- Pat Benetar two CD set. I have wanted Pat for a while. So I got her. If you happen to hear "We Belong" "Love is a Battlefield" and "Heartbreaker" blasting from the Queens corner of the country, that'd be me (after I finish with Sir Elton, of course).

- The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture: Like Pat, this is a CD I have wanted for some time. So I got it.

- Nina Simone Anthology:
My practical side: "Hey, AC, do you know any Nina Simone songs?"
Me: "Why no, practical side, I don't, why do you ask?"
My practical side: "Do you think it was a good idea to spend $26 on a CD of an artist you don't actually know if you will like or not? Especially since you are always moaning about how you are broke?"
Me: "What's your point?"

- Bring it On DVD. I really don't need this. Especially since the DVD I really wanted to get was Bridget Jones Diary (Mmmmm, Firth) and this was just because it was in the same 'B' section and FYE didn't have BJD (Why? Why do you hate me, FYE?). Of course, I still can't figure out my DVD player to actually watch the CD, but eh. I'll get it to work eventually. I think. And I would have gotten Bring it On eventually, so I figured I may as well get it now.

I can justify anything.

- A tall mocha malt frap: It's just so tempting what with the mocha and the malt and the whipped cream and mmmmm. And the Starbucks is right there in the B&N! How exactly was I supposed to say no?

My day, thus far, by the numbers
- Number of quarters used on laundry: 17 (normal)
- Number of CD's I actually restrained myself from buying: 1 (Pharcide)
- Number of miles I have walked (to and from the strip mall): 2. Ish. I think
- Number of apples I have eaten: 2 (one red delicious, one granny smith)
- Number of aforementioned apples that I ate with peanut butter: 1 (the granny smith)
- Cups of coffee I have had: 2. And the frap.
- Number of words I have written for Spander story: 2. A section header. And what is with all the 2's? That, apparently, is my number of the day.
- Number of times I smiled and said hello to bitchy old woman who lives two doors down, while passing on the street: 2
- Number of times she responded in any way: 0 (bitch)
- Number of random men smoking on the sidewalk (in a cigarette way, not a vamp way) who warned me not to choke in my soda (frap.): 1
- Number of freakishly androgynous people passed on walk home: 1
- Number of Road Runner High speed cable installers who honked at me: 1
- Number of times listened to "I guess that's why they call it the blues": many.
- Number of cigarettes I have had: 0
- Number of cigs I have wanted: A lot. I don't know why, but I am having a really crave-y day.
- Number of pieces of gum I have had in leiu of a ciggie: 4
- Number of Spuffy pics autographed by James Marsters I have impulsively kissed: 1
- Number of times I have edited this post: About 7. *sigh*

Is it odd to go from listening to Elton John to listening to The Martix soundtrack?

I'm really obsessed about the Krakauer book, and giddy that I picked it up. Into Thin Air is one of my fave nonfiction books ever; and as a recovering Mormon (I was baptized, but I haven't been to church since I was a teenager and have MAJOR ISSUES with many of the tenets of the faith) I've got this healthy dollop of schadenfreude about the whole thing.

You know, the sooner people learn this basic fact? The better off things are for all of us.

BTW, I LOVE your Sally's-fic-challenge pairing. Heh. Heh heh. Heh heh heh.

I think the better question is Number of times I (which is to say, you) have impulsively kissed Spuffy pic autographed by James Marsters.

The alphabet is tricky. That's how I almost ended up with Backstreet Boys when I was looking for Beatles. *nods*

I'm telling you, she's a shoo in for World Leader.

Some people have comic books, I have comic strips.

I adore For Better or For Worse. Do you to their site? http://www.fborfw.com I check it everyday to read the strip. I gotta know: are you a Liz/Anthony shipper? I just took four FBorFW books back to the library yesterday. I *heart* it so much.

Re: Bring it On. This dvd is essential to everyone's library. Watched it again this weekend. I *heart* BiO, too. And I *heart* you. I'm so proud of you for not smoking. *hugs*

Also, I hope reading about your shopping will stymie my own shopping impulse. I really, really want some decorator things from White Barn Candle Co. for my bedroom. Maybe I'll shop after my student loan check arrives...

sorry to blather on, but I really relate to this post...

You can blather on whenever you want to on my journal. I am honored to have sunblather!

And when I found out Anthony was engaged I was heartbroken! I haven't been keeping up with the new ones (though I know what's going on. When Michael and Deanna had a baby my mom called and me and before I said a word, exclaimed "Michael had a baby!"). And I always buy the books when they come out. It's very necessary.

I was so upset when Farely died!

Thank you so, so much for the support with the non-smoking! You are the rockenist rock who ever did rock!
