Nunavut does indeed exist. It became Canada's third territory in 1999 (we now have ten provinces and three territories.) It was created by partioning the Northwest Territory in two to better reflect the historial, cultural, and economic differences of the region.
I've never been there myself, but my dad was once on Baffin Island, the largest island in Canada and where Nunavut's capital Iqaluit is located, so I guess that means there is some proof of its existence.

And hey, did you know that both Nunavut and the Northwest Territory are famous for diamonds?
