A series of unfortunate events
Mar. 24th, 2006 08:00 pmToday has been One of Those Days. You know, a day where nothing really goes wrong, but everything *is* wrong?
Strangely, I am still in good humor. And have been throughout the day. Huh.
But it started with my turning in my homework only to find out that identifying the stones isn't enough. No, I have to "show my work". Rassafrassen grumble, grumble. So even though I identified the stones to the best of my ability that is not enough and next week I have to take back the stones and add things like 'heft' and 'luster' and 'phenomena'. I ask you" how exactly do you determine the heft of something that is approximately one-tenth of a carat?
Or this big -> 0
Right.
Then I got a bunch of prelims with a bazillion feathers all that were callable. Then I had a bunch of doubles, all that needed opinions that meant I had to get up and interact.
Then I got The Stone.
In the past two days I have graded two things I had never graded before.
1) A briolette. It is a screaming pain in the ass to grade.
2) A stone with 'poor' symmetry.
The 'poor' sym. stone? Yeah, between doubling and then asking opinions and plotting and then replotting this one stupid little stone took an hour and a half.
Then the light bulb on my scope died.
And I had a bunch of irritating stones. And my iPod Shuffle didn't reset last night. And I was supposed to go get my nails done with
madeofgold but her mom is under the weather and also I came home after work and fell asleep hard. Hard like a kid who absolutely insists that they are in no way shape or form tired at all uh-uh no way, Jose.
But still with the good humor. My body, people. It defies logic.
I am very excited about tomorrow for no big reason except that it is Saturday and I think I have a nice morning planned (though I may wake up with no desire to follow through which is just fine, too, as it's Saturday).
I think I will wake up and hop the train into the City. Then I will have a little breakfast at Whole Foods (what?) and go check out the Trader Joe's that just opened. Because I am dorky like that and I love grocery stores. Then I will go the Greenmarket and see if I can find the amazing apple that I got last week and I will stop by Sephora as I am almost out of powder and then I will walk home. And I'll take pictures. And if I pass any tacky lawn ornaments, I'll take pictures and post them because
ghoulchick inspired me.
Then, when I get back to Brooklyn I think I might get my very favorite banana-berry smoothie and then I will go to the cheap, cheap nail place and get my fingers and toesies painted because, well, I'm snarley, people.
Tomorrow night I think I'm going to the Boy's because my roommate is having a wee bit of a shindiggery and I don't want to intrude. We might watch Alien, as I’ve never seen it. I don't know.
Then Sunday will be laundry and identification. And boy-howdy will I Show My Work.
And here is a comic that made me laugh and laugh and laugh at the wrongness of it. JOY!
