Today is an absolutely lovely day in this fair city. Cool. I, of course, have very few plans involving leaving my computer, but it's nice all the same. Besides, I've already been out on a nice walk of necessity, so I feel I have basked a sufficient about. *decisive nod*

Yesterday evening I journeyed to a far away land called Hicksville where my dear friends plied me with food and wine and offered me a place to rest my head so I wouldn't have to take the train home late at night. *loves* They made me mussels and Asian pear salad and asparagus and frietes with a low-fat cilantro-mayo dip. YUM! Then brownie sundaes for dessert. I was very full, to say the least. It was a truly wonderful evening with friends I really don't see often enough (they're all married and domestic on Long Island), especially one on one. Then this morning I took the train home and got off at Jay St. to walk to my diggs because the F is being a pain in the as this weekend and running express from Jay to Church which means that I would have had to go past my stop and then turn back which, no. I'd rather walk the mile+. Besides, I stopped and got my favorite smoothie eva (OMGsogood!!) and apples and coffee.

So, there is a reason I should be kept away from technology. And that reason is, I abuse it hard core. Like, lets say for example . . . texting.

I recently acquired a new phone. Rock. I can easily text. Double rock. Last weekend [livejournal.com profile] madeofgold taught me T9. Rock like a rocking thing. And even without T9 I text like a crazy person. But sometimes it is so worth it. Because I can read old texts if I want and laugh and laugh and laugh. Like this exchange between my friend A and I (A being the chick who suckered persuaded me into going to the fish market on Friday)(verbatim):

Me: Thank you for the invite. I really had a great time.
A: I loved it! I'll watch the sun rise over fish carcasses ANYTIME.
Me: Yay! You are the *best* sunrise over fish carcass watching companion ever!!!
A: No, YOU are!

Hee. I love my friends. =D

Then I woke up this morning with one thought in my head and couldn't get it out so I immediately texted in to [livejournal.com profile] madeofgold because it was just too wonderful not to share. Also? This was at 7:28 this morning (sorry G!)

OMG!!! What if JM & M. Rosenbaum start making out on Smallville?!?! I would probably die of Teh Pretty.

Which, of course, needs to be shared. But it makes me laugh because this was my waking thought.

And it's possible I texted out a good night last night, but when I woke up this morning it wasn't there so I either erased the message from my phone or I just imagined sending it. Huh.

Speaking of: There is nothing like an early morning stroll through the fish market to reaffirm your beauty and femininity. Because I was feeling less attractive than normal on Friday at the crackiest of crack of dawn, in halfassed make-up, my too big jeans and my 'nobody puts Donna in a corner' tee. But the appraising looks from the fish mongers we flying fast and furious and we even got some very nice comments. Quite the gentlemen. With there really scary fish carcass lifting hooks. I'll admit, there was a bit of the "I know what you did last Summer" scare. If I had seen the Gordon's Fisherman I might have screamed.

After wandering though the fish we ended up going to the Seaport and watched the sky lighten with the sun rise (the actual sunrise was north of us so we didn't see the sun. Still? It was freaking amazing to see. Especially the Brooklyn Bridge which really is gorgeous). What was also coo was seeing the older Asian men and women practicing Tai Chi. It was a good morning.

And if I went home at 12:30 on Friday afternoon because I was so freaking tired well, I was only thinking of the company, wasn't I? I mean, I could have stayed and worked while my eyes crossed and my vision blurred in the microscope or I could have taken three unpaid hours and gone home and gotten some rest and then made up the time on Saturday - which I was planning on working anyway - and do an actual good job. Really. It was the companies best interest I had in mind. Uh huh. Absolutely.

This is something from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that I *loved*. Seriously, I wrote it down so I could read and reread it at a moments notice. I'm putting it behind a cut because it is actual text from HBP but there is not one little thing in it that could be in any way considered a spoiler.

Hee! )

M'kay. That's all for me. My SoS posting date is tomorrow so today I am working on that like a good little Spike Junkie. Yay, Spike!

[livejournal.com profile] rustydog has a poll in her journal comparing the original Scoobies to the four main characters in The Wizard of Oz. Someone clicked that they thing Giles is Dorothy. I saw that and was like "Who would click Giles for Dorothy? That's crazy-talk!" Two seconds later (before I clicked the link) I thought "It has to have been [livejournal.com profile] smidgy06!"

And I was right.
