Good things are good
Jun. 25th, 2005 11:07 pmI have comments to reply to. I know this and I haven't forgotten. And I thank you for your kind words and love and reassurances in response to my minibreakdown the other day. Yeesh. But it was a good breakdown and I feel better for having it. *loves you all* *loves you more*
In the spirit of good things I now have a list of good things that I have experienced over the past two and a half days:
1) The ULTIMATE celeb-sighting, that is, if you are a fourteen year old me, which I always will be a little bit. Now some of you may have know that I tend to be a wee bit obsessive about certain celebrities who's (whose? crap) names I won't mention but to say they rhyme with Crames Barsters and Splolin Smirth. So, anyhoo, I am obsessed in a complete star struck way with these men. But you should know that the obsession did not start with them, oh no. It harks back and there is a loooooooong list of obsessees, some who have endured the test of time (Jeff Goldblum, Johnny Depp) and some not so much (Danny Wood (Shut UP!), Leonardo DiCaprio).
But before all of them, there was a young girl new to boarding school. She didn't know many people, she didn't understand this new, strange Eastern Time Zone thing (having grown up in Central) and she didn't know a lot about what was on TV and when.
Then a fellow fourteen year old somehow mentioned a little show I like to call Twin Peaks.
To say this fourteen year old girl was sucked in would be an understatement of Genie-power-like proportions. And even more than TP as a whole there was . . .
Kyle MacLachlan.
Yes, I was walking down Seventh Ave on my way to Whole Foods when who passed me, looking all hot with long hair (which totally works) and nice athletic shorts and a hat and the chin and the smirk and the OMGHOTNESSSSS!!!!!!! Yeah. I saw Dale Cooper.
I now have two checks in my top five list. Kyle and James. I didn't actually say anything to him but I did gape like a fish and spun completely to watch him walk away.
That was so good.
2) Thursday was the Corporate Challenge. And you know what? It was a hella fun, Apparently there was about 15,000 people there and the participating corporations sponsor their employees for $20 a head and all of the money goes to the Central Park Conservatory so that was way cool. And I got to hang out with some work buddies who I rarely see in a social setting. That rocked. And I got: Three free bottles of water, two bananas, a four-pack of Dannon yogurt shakes, three t-shirts, two sample jars of strawberry jam, a jar opener and a peanut butter spreader. Yay! Swag!
3) I found out my new raise goes into effect on July 18th and it's more than I expected. Then my annual review/raise is a month later. Woo!
4) I'm going rollerblading tomorrow morning.
5) I got two more free Snapple thanks to the favor promotion thingee they're doing.
6) Today after work I went to the new DeBeers store on Fifth Ave. and saw the Millennium Star which is one of the largest diamonds in the world and (I think) the largest IF diamond. It was shiny. Also, really dirty. PEOPLE! You're displaying a big shiny bauble! Is it that hard to wipe it over with a cloth? Morons, yo.
But I especially liked going into the store and feigning ignorance to the hoity-toity employees then shocking them with my stellar knowledge. Bask in my mad skillz, Jeeves. Especially since I had a Rap bag slung over my shoulder and anyone worth their weight in Diamonds recognizes the name Rapaport, at least vaguely, as it is the leading price list for diamond wholesale prices in the freaking world. Heh. I mock them all.
7) I went to Whole Foods yesterday and today and stocked up on a lot of really freaking good junk food. I'm talking banana cream cake and parfaits and brownies and stuff. Nice. And I got some homemade rice pudding for my roomie 'cause she had a crappy Friday.
8) I finished OotP tonight and liked it a *lot* better than I remembered. Is it the sixteenth yet?
9) Speaking of the sixteenth, I actually have two parties planned for that night which means that I can be social! And maybe even less broke! Yay!
10) And, saving the best for last, at work today I mentioned to a friend that I had had an incredible Celeb-sighting and that it was one of my top five celebs and OMG SQUEE!!!! and all that. I also mentioned the Stupid Ex thing. And somehow the two delved into a conversation about harems and boys kissing and James Marsters and not only her but the *other* really wonderful girl in IC both went *OMGLOVES!!!!!* and it turns out she is a Spuffy shipper and she and her sister both are obsessed - though not as obsessed as I am - and she loved QaF and has read a lot of the same fic and she has an lj though I don't know her name because we were both like "well, I talk about work and stuff and maybe, probably, maybe not but not today in any case" and she totally fangirl geeks out, too! And here I thought she was just a cool chick to work with but now I realize that she is even *MORE* cool than I could have imagined and I know many of you through the fandom but I feel like I never meet people randomly like this and it WAS AWESOME!!!!! *breathes* And she totally knows the internet lingo- she called Xander adorkable. Wheee!
I'm all giddy now. And we're totally going to hang out and fan-geek together. yay!

There you go. 10 good things about the last three days. Tomorrow is rollerblading (I think), laundry, possible street fair and cleaning out the old VHS cassettes to sell to the place down the street that buys them. Oh! And homework. 'Cause I get another raise when I finish my degree. Woot!
eta: I want a llama. Apparently the roam free in the North West. Neat.
