Oh! On Tuesday President Clinton will be signing his book at the Barnes and Noble that is literally one block away from where I work (my building is 47th and Fifth, B&N is 48th and Fifth).

On the one hand- holy pain in the ass, Batman!

On the other, I kind of want to blow off work so I can stand in line all morning to get his autograph. I mean, it's the President! How cool is that?

Sadly, my credit card debt says I work, so that is just a pipe dream, unfulfilled. Alas! Earwax!

1) CONGRATULATIONS! to ghoulchick!!! All of the love and the cooing and none of the labor pains! Best of both worlds! I am so, so happy for you!

2) You know what? When you have a canker sore, or a sore tongue, or a canker sore on your tongue, gargling with salt water? Really works. Really. And fast, too. I have had a - wait for it - canker sore on my tongue (I tend to gnaw when I am distracted. Lovely, no?) and so I tried the ol' gargling with hot salt water (FYI: don't stir the salt in the hot water with your finger. Ow!) and I feel much better. Yay!

3) My mom called today, and she was sounding all serious and I was concerned for a moment. She said she had to ask me something Very Important and I needed to be honest with her.

She wanted to know if I knew how to record movies off of TV. Then she wanted to know if I got TNT. Because she wanted to know if I could tape 'Salem's Lot for her. It was Very Important.

I told her that I not only could tape it for her, but I could program the VCR to tape it tonight and tomorrow night.

I think I blew her mind. She is now convinced that I will be the one to carry the family during the tough times. I can program a VCR. I wield the power.
