Some weekends are dull and listless, riding through the hours expending as little energy as possible, eating plain bread because it's too much effort to make anything more and watching an Olsen twins marathon because the remote is all the way at the foot of the bed.

And then some weekends you go to a burlesque show with [livejournal.com profile] nautibitz, [livejournal.com profile] lovebytez & [livejournal.com profile] dry_witha_twist.

Friday was a crap-tastic day that I am not going to get into for fear of some sort of post traumatic flashbacks, so just know that it sucked, but then I got home and figured out how to listen to phone posts, so I did that for a while.

On Saturday I ended up going into the city and walking down to Love's exhibit. Something you should know: In the competition to see which section of the city is the biggest pain in the ass to get through when walking from 34th street to Liberty Avenue down Broadway on a Saturday SoHo is reining King, Queen, and their entire ilk. And the competition was stiff before I hit Houston. The 20's are always a nightmare what with the sidewalk vendors every inch and a half, Union Square is packed because of the Green Market (where I saw a woman fall into a tray of flowers. I admit it, I snickered. I'm a bad, bad person) and the Village is always packed, but dude. SoHo is hell. I really don't know why. Apparently it has become a huge tourist attraction and so people are moseying this way and that, peering into boutiques and generally making a nescience of themselves. Bah.

I got to the gallery around 4:45 and chilled with Nauti, Love, [livejournal.com profile] saussy, who had to skedaddle for a bit. We met up with Dry and [livejournal.com profile] vixkitten and went for really yummy and inexpensive Indian food which was very fun. There we talked about the important things in life like the kind of person JM might sleep with (young), cinematic masterpieces of our time like “Teen Witch” and “Teenage Caveman” (Dry and I haven’t seen that classic, but Vix and Nauti gave us a wonderful summery of this bit of filmmaking genius, so I have to make sure to add it to the list. [livejournal.com profile] deeablo, I think it is the kind of movie you might enjoy), and poor, poor Paris Hilton. Really, she’s misunderstood. And I really want to see the tape. You know, to sympathize with her, not to laugh at her in any way or mock her copiously.
After din-din (where Saussy, Husband of Saussy, and Boy of Vix joined us,) Saussy and her man had to catch a train and Vix had wake at an obscenely early hour so she had to away. And Nauti, Love, Dry and I ended up going to the burlesque show.

It was so fun. There were go-go dancers’ aplenty (including one guy who, through a costume that included a beanie and rosy cheeks, looked like he was about 12. There was a bit of squick). Unfortunately the show started a bit late, so I missed most of the nakedness because I had to duck out to catch my train (though I could have stayed an extra ten minutes, blast and dang) But I saw a woman with a fabulous ass clench her corset obscenely tight and so creepy freaking acrobats. Also, another woman who stripped beautifully, though not completely. The whole day was such a joy.
Yesterday was dull. Woke up. Got coffee. Went grocery shopping. Read fic. Took a nap. Did dishes. Cooked. Cleaned. Cooked. Cleaned. Made oatmeal sotchies (mmmm). Made chicken cutlets. Read [livejournal.com profile] wiseacress’ “Bus Stop Boxer” (now with larvae!) which is excellent Spike/Xander, and watched QaF.

All in all a good weekend.

I’m ready to go home now.

deeablo, I think it is the kind of movie you might enjoy.

Hey, should I be offended? Heh.>:P

And do you mean this version or this version?

Oh, the second version, absolutely. With the dreamy cheerleader from Bring it On. A classic that would certainly add to your collection. But I am thinking you have already seen it?

I hadn't even heard of it! My taste in bad movies hasn't progressed much past the 1990s, I'm afraid.
