The problem with tetanus shots is not the shot itself, which feels like the most delicate of stingy pinches and then a whole lotta nothing, but the afterwards when your arm feel like someone spent six hours lightly punching you in the same exact spot so the bruising is all the way too the bone and simple things like "moving" or "lying on your side' cause pain.

Though three days of pain to combat the possibility of a tetanusy death is something I can live with. Even though the doctor told me that there are pretty much mo documented cases of people dying or, really, being infected with it in this country. More of a third world horror. Because clearly they are lacking.

But I went and got my physical and they took of my blood and when I asked the technician if more people watched or looked away he said something like "definitely look away but not YOU, staring right at it" and I explained that it was very cool. Later I thought that while controlled blood loss is cool and kind of pretty uncontrolled blood loss that . . . gushy would be much less so.

The only down side was when I failed to pee in a cup. I couldn't help it! I had performance anxiety! Whenever I go back, I guess. But I can't just pee on command! Especially when there are all of these people outside the door and what if suddenly someone knocks and is waiting for me and do you know how HARD it is to aim for the cup when you don't have a penis (which I assume makes the whole aiming thing easier)?!

Last night my mom had a party for a young couple she knows who just moved back to Chicago last year. Most of the guests were in their 20/30/40s.

There were no less then six pregnant women there. Out of fiftyish guests.

What the hell? Doesn't that seem disproportionate?

Whatever.

I've had a strangely cheery week. In the past two weeks I've made four engagement rings which is more than I usually do in a month. And I realized that I have customers. Like, they are *my* customers. One woman, upon receiving her wedding band, gave me a huge hug and proclaimed she now had a jeweler in Chicago.

I mean, wow. That feels good.

Also, the Season is upon us and it is about to get mad busy and I *love* mad busy when it's not crazy-frantic because it is *fun* and fun is good.

Tomorrow is my mombo's 60th birthday. As this is a significant day and a milestone year (though sixty? Really?) we (Me, Jenny, Jack, David and Mom's Gentleman Friend) are taking my mom to Charlie Trotter's which we are all very excited about. A full report to follow if the food coma doesn't last too long.

Well, I'm going to muck about, continue to stretch my arm, and then sleep early. I was a bit hung over this morning and it was a busy day and I want to be rested up for tomorrow.

Love and love!
