angelchicken: (Ron/Hermione)

I loved it. I adored it. I thought it was so wonderfully done.

I wish they had shown Fred's death. I think that is the one thing I was truly disappointed with. It felt too big to be glossed over. I mean, if you can't tell the two apart (and I forgot to look for George's missing ear), then you might not have realized it was Fred at all.

I also would have liked to have seen Percy's return to the fold. But I'm just glad he was there.

The film was the shortest of all of them, and I feel like it wouldn't have hurt to add these small scenes, plus a few others. Alas!

Also, I wish Harry had mended his wand.

Oh my gosh, I thought it was so good! I cried from pretty much the boathouse to King's Cross, especially during Snape's memories, and Harry's walk to meet Voldemort.

I couldn't not, you know?

I loved the Ron/Hermione kiss- it was perfectly done, and fit in with the canon of the film. It would have been nice if it had been like the book, but the spontaneity was still there, and the smiles after they kissed were adorable.

I thought the epilogue was really well done. Aging actors can look so bad, but they did a pretty good job. I mean, as someone on their way to 36, I think they looked a bit too old, but I might have a bias . . .

I thought Helena Bonham-Carter was fantastic as Hermione-playing-Bellatrix, and I really liked the vault scene. Poor dragon!

I loved Harry's "Hermione, when have our plans ever worked out?" Snerk.

I haven't, in past films, loved Ron being used as comic relief, because it's seemed to be his only purpose. In this film (and the last one), I feel like they got it right. He had some funny lines, but they weren't clownish or anything. They helped break the tension at the right moments (also, Seamus's "She has six brothers, but there's only one Harry Potter" was awesome).

Can we talk about Awesome Neville? Because Neville? Awesome. Fantastic. I loved him on the bridge taunting the Death Eaters, and how when he stepped forward, and the Death Eaters laughed at him, he was all "Fuck off, we're awesome, even if Harry's dead, and have you met the FUCKING SWORD OF GRYFFINDOR?"

Also badass? McGonagall. Love, love, love. And when she was giddy about doing the spell to animate the statuary, I died with love.

This is so little, but I love that Seamus's penchant for blowing things up, which has been consistent from the first film, was used. Fantastic.

I liked when Harry ran into Ginny, they kissed, and went on. I'm not sure the actors have the best chemistry, but I felt that it was a really important moment in the film. It worked for me.

Snape. Everything about Snape. Everything about Snape. His crying at Lily's death (with crying baby Harry in the background GAH), his realization that Voldemort is going to kill him, his "pig for slaughter", and jeebus the "always". I can't even. I can't even).

I loved the Malfoy's and Harry calling Draco out on not outing Harry at Malfoy Manor.

I loved Aberforth.

I loved the other-worldliness of the scene in King's Cross with Dumbledore, and the importance of their discussion, and Dumbledore's calling Harry a man.

Okay, I have to go do stuff and there is SO MUCH MORE, I will probably think of, but I had to get this out and put down some jumbled thoughts.

I just remembered that last night I dreamed that I was the Nanny for Neil Partick Harris's kids. Random.
